So I've had some seat time with the half windshield that @SuperATV sent me and I'm very pleasantly surprised by it.  I originally bought the full tilting windshield from CF Moto when I bought by Z8 and love it during the colder weather.  However, during the warm weather it's nice to get some more air flow and the dusty conditions don't play nice with a full shield.

My skepticism with the half windshields when I first bought my Z8 was that it wouldn't deflect enough air and not really serve much of a purpose.  I'm happy to report that I was wrong about that.  The lip at the top of the windshield really does a great job at deflecting air, but you still get enough to stay comfortable.  It takes about 5 minutes to mount it up and I was able to mount mine in addition to my full shield mounts.  It just sits up about an extra 1/2 inch.

The only drawback to it that I've found to this point is the rubber stripping that mounts to the bottom of the windshield.  It's somewhat difficult to get positioned exactly correct with the contours, but they include extra so it can be trimmed to size.  I'll post some pictures later on.

I installed this half windshield.  Haven't run it yet, but it's a nice quality product.  It does come up to about eye-level, so should help during the winter rides.  I did trim the rubber moulding and that made it a nice fit.  Love the velcro strap system.  It'll be easy to remove, if necessary.  Could have used it last weekend when cruising in the freezing temps.

Having ridden with this half windshield for a bit, I love it.  It's the perfect height so the wind doesn't hit your face, but you still get the open air feeling.  Great product.  Well worth the money. 

Rear window is on the way, so curious to see how it affects the windshield and dust conditions.

I don't want a full windshield and then have to add a rear window because of dust concerns, but the odd time caught in rain it gets pretty miserable especially with my glasses, and it makes a mess of the visor too. Wondering if deflecting a lot of wind means deflecting some rain too.  ??

I don't know about the SATV half shields but the CFM half shield did little or nothing to deflect the rain or hail..or dust. All it got was dirty enough not to see through it and the upper edge was right in my field of view. Its in the shed now..scratched a little. Can't believe I paid 250 bucks for that POS. Love my SATV flip.

I recently rode in a 800 trail with the 1/2 CFMOTO in very dusty logging road conditions. This windshield has a pretty good kick on the top lip & it was mounted as low as possible. No roof or rear winder.

I've never been so fricken dusty including the entire cab  the air space behind the front 1/2 winder was dead. So the vortex was full on behind it, if I put my hand out in front of the winder it was blocking a massive amount of wind 

My suggestion to the owner was to start raising the windshield to get some air moving between the lower part & the cab. The amount of wind I could feel with my hand suggested you might be able to tune down the Vortex while getting some air flow in the cab.

Another separate comment was from the owners wife with the half windshield, the water ran off the roof & she was not happy. This is different unit.

Yeah, I surfed and searched some RZR forums just for the volume of responses, and the greater consensus was not in favor of the half windshield.
Might stare pretty hard at that flip though.

The only complaint I've ever heard was a tall person complaining that if they leaned too far forward their head could hit it; not an issue for most folk.

Yeah...I agree. Money well spent.
If anyone lives close (cause I won't ship it) and wants a CFM 1/2 shield in good condition...I'll give someone a great deal on one..

Other conditions the SuperATV windshield is of great benefit.
Such as trails with overhanging snow laden branches...
