I found Imgur photo hosting site to be so easy to use that I've started using it for most of my image handling. It was a good score. :)

I wonder if my going back and pruning my earlier pre-Imgur photo attached posts of their wasteful images would help free up some apparently scarce site bandwidth resources?

I wouldn't risk it. Could loose them completely.

Another good thing we can use is Postimage.org

You can take screenshots or upload whatever images you want and it'll auto-generate a Thumbnail you can copy/paste into the posts if you don't want to attach an actual file:
