2018 Uforce 800 Battery
« on: June 15, 2025, 03:12:48 PM »
Hi All,

New to group. Let me start by saying I have pretty good knowledge of motors in most vehicles. Thats why this is so embarrassing  :-[
My battery would not stay charged for more than 24hrs. I went the easiest route and bought a new battery. Time to R&R, should be simple right ? Well nothing is simple for me :-)
Filled and charged the new battery , installed it and absolutely nothing, no lights no fuel pump no nothing.
The embarrassing part is I MAY have installed cables in reverse (couldn't see the damn markings.) No sparks, no pop, nothing. I disconnected pilled the battery and reinstalled , sure that I connected properly this time. Absolutely nothing, no lights , no fuel pump nothing. I checked battery and is 100%, I FINALLY found fuse box and no blown fuses. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Kevin

For us with older Zs, there is a system positive power wire that almost always gets tucked in behind the battery when installing it and therefore gets missed. Without it there is no power to any system...it will be the one the main fuse is on so test for power at the main fuse and if none...you might have your answer. The other thing is that around in that year CFM had a big problem with the crimp connections inside the main fuse holder. They would loose connection but wouldn't blow the fuses so test power in and out of that fuse holder with the key on and say...the headlights. The down side is there may be some ECM or relay damage from hooking it up backwards...let's hope not.
