If they are red on the outside, they are two-stage. On oil, even when I used the best I would get some to atomize and be pulled-in and onto the sensor so check yours. I assume you have been cleaning and re-oiling them. Use FAB1 or BelRay and when done working it in and all the way through, grab a wad of paper towel and stick it inside. Then squeeze it down and suck-up the extra. That will stop it from being pulled in.

I really appreciate your help and advice

It's a big red tube air filter and says "UNI" on the side. I buy *UNI* brand cleaner and oil to change and clean it.

I coat the outside and inside in the oil after I make damn sure it's clean.

I've never heard of FAB1 or BELRAY.

You have 3,000 miles on an 2023 800 already? Wow...mine is 10 years old now and don't have 2K on it yet. Well, just my opinion, now isn't the time when you want...or should see anything other then a slight color change in the oil. If the isn't on the plug, its aluminum or bearing babbitt. How often do you change the oil and filter?

I accidentally bought two of the K&N air filters for the Gen 2 trail, so I just rotate them every 2-3 rides.....the rides being 10-70 miles.
K&Ns!? Anyone that has used K&Ns have toasted their top ends very quickly in dusty conditions. Need to replace them with two-stage Unifilters as they are the only ones proven to trap down to the smallest micron using a quality foam filter treatment. K&Ns have direct paths through the media..even after oiling, giving dirt and dust a straight through shot into the engine. Want proof?, pull it and swab the intake just after the filter then take a look with a magnifying glass. All that dust isn't the problem...it's what didn't stick o the walls that is. Also the K&N oil gets pulled in and coats the mass air flow sensor aka air temp sensor. By now it should have a pretty good coating. When mine got coated t would make the engine just die for no reason but would just start right back up again. Messes with the ECU's programing I guess. Easy to clean..just need to use ONLY mass airflow sensor spray cleaner.

My bad I got it wrong. I checked, and these are "UNI" filters. I don't think they're two stage, though.

Maybe nothing. But keep an eye on it. Most people change their oil between 6 and 800 miles. Any other things that seem different...like noises, smells, starting different..ect?
4-5 months ago it sat for a long time (Maybe three months) and the first time I went to start it - it fired right up and then died. This happened twice. Then after that everything has been 100%.

Nothing weird at all. I try to baby the machine because I want it to last. Don't jump or sink it. Only weird sounds are from my clutch cause I need to service it lol. Engine runs just fine from what I hear. I made sure the air intake hasn't came off the top of the motor as well and I switch out my air filter every couple rides.

I also checked the oil filter by taking it apart and didn't see any metal in it

We ride a lot. I change all the fluids and filter every 200-300 miles.

As the title says. I'm changing the oil on my 2023 zforce 800 trail and noticed a very small amount of metal in the oil. It's got 3,000 miles. Extremely small particles, smaller than glitter or grains of sand and there wasn't a whole lot. The magnetic drain plug had some on it as well but it had a very smooth consistency....didn't feel rough when rubbed between fingers.

Is this normal? I've never owned a side by side and figured I'd ask here. Don't hate on me too much. Apologies isle this is a stupid question.

I thought they came out with a kit to put a hand brake back on those...and it was free. Might check into that..pretty sure they did something.

They did. My dealer sucks....really bad. ****** motor sports in pikeville, KY.

I see most people have problems with brakes after the hand brake update....so I don't park on inclines. (I think me parking on inclines twice and having to jerk the shifter into gear, before the update....before I knew it was an issue.....and pulling on the shifter contributed to this failure because I made it weak)

**** that dealer btw.

Bummer..well better a cable then a parking paw or something else internal. My old 15 has a steel rod between the shifter and transmission. It won't break but other things will so I never use Park..ever.

Truth. I was terrified it was going to be something internal that I can't afford to fix.

I need to get a "spring brake thingy"

ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / Shifter cable broke today
February 24, 2025, 05:05:29 PM
I know that if I park on a steep incline, then I won't be able to shift out of gear in my 2023 800 trail.

Today I parked on a very very slight incline, and when I went to put it back into gear.....*snap*.....every gear turned into park.

Ended up securing the machine to a tree with a recovery strap and winch, removed the middle cover between the seats, and manually put it in low to get back home.

Now I'm online looking for the part number for a shifter cable assembly.

I bought a UNI filter and clean/lube it, along with changing the oil, every couple hundred miles....or whenever I get bored. I figured paying for filter/engine oil is cheaper than using paying for an engine.

I've got right at 2,900 miles on mine. I'm hoping I can keep it for a long time.

It might also be helpful to know how the charging system works.. as in how it feeds system power needs then to the battery. If you have a connection getting hot..better find out why.. and fix or replace it asap.

I feel as if I have a base line understanding of how it works. I have looked for rubbed wires and loose connectors. The only problem I am seeing is the fuse getting very hot.

I am thinking of running my own inline fuse or installing a marine circuit breaker....because I have heard that the connections in the fuse box are loose and can cause resistance/heat.
