Welcome. Drove to your area in 2012 from Michigan as we visited friends in Antiganish. Went to P E I, Halfax and other costal areas. Beautiful country. Again welcome. Stan

Moved to Mi. in 1951, and retired to Florida in 2012. Glad to have you here. Lots of helpful and friendly members. Good luck with your Z, Stan

Wow. I think I'd be more worried about that cat. And yes, that .22 is just going to make that bear laugh before he whoops you're butt. 😂😂😂
Yes to the .22. Looking to get a .357 Mag in the near future. Substituted a 9mm for the .22 for now.
The cat to the best of my determination is an Ocelot. Not too much bigger than a large domestic cat. I think they are native to the central America region. May have been an escaped pet or something like that. We have panthers, bobcats, fox, coyote, black bear, and are starting to see evidence of the large Burmese python snakes. I have seen where a very large snake has crossed the hunting property. The marks of it's crossing were about an inch and a half wide. Hope I can eliminate it if encountered. Those are non native invasive reptiles we don't need. This property is less than a mile from our home. We have a couple young gators in the pond behind our home. Will post a photo of those. One is about 2-3 feet and the other 4-5 feet.

, well I guess you've got me there. This one came in once the deer started to eat the corn from the homemade feeder. This bear persuaded me to start carrying a bigger side arm than the .22 Mag. He was in about 2 hours before I was there checking the cameras. Glad I didn't walk in on it. #68

Nice work! Yeah I'm kinda the same way..on a smaller scale though...especially these days.
Thanks. Are you retired yet? If not you need to get yourself there.
I am always getting into something. I played in a Bluegrass band many years, recorded some songs, am in the process of editing a fiction novel I wrote 20 years ago. Involved in hog hunting here in Florida with my partner in crime and neighbor.

General Discussion / Building your own stuff

I have always enjoyed building or fabricating since I was a little guy. I would build little airplanes out of wood from an old orange crate, and just loved building more than buying. I built everthing you can imagine in my 77 years. Tools, equipment, just about everthing. Mostly I liked using scrap or repurposed things. I built sandblasters, shop presses, a manure spreader, tire changer, mini bike, pusher prop Ice boat, carved decorative birds and decoys. I retired as an electrician from Whirlpool corp. I also enjoyed body work on Chevy S-10's, Ford Rangers, and bump and paint in general. I never stop trying to make things better or making insted of buying. I hope I'm not the only nut like that. Here are a few of the pieces of junk I have thrown together. I hope others share some ideas or projects.

I understand the need for that a little better. Thnks for all the work you guys do.Quote from: Old Stan Man on September 18, 2020, 06:11:48 PM
Cannot edit post
Can't always recognize the verification letters and type what I think they are, when I submit and if the veferication letters I type in are incorrect, I lose the content of the post. I have done this post three times and having to start all over is trying my patience. Recognizing the verrication letters is very difficult.
Is there any way around that as it seems to me that a Login and Password should be sufficient. I am amazed that there is so much security for what this forum is all about. Thanks
@Old Stan Man the posting issue and editing post issue should be resolved (like you reported), but the verification settings are in place to prevent spam.
Unfortunately, we've had previous instances of bot accounts that'd create themselves and then spam our boards and topics so we implemented some additional features to help prevent that going forward.
However, those settings are currently only for members with fewer than 2 total posts so you shouldn't have to verify every time you make a post after successfully making your first two posts. If, for some reason, you do continue to receive the verification images please let me know.

Look likes all the bugs are fixed in editing and being able to post photo's. I just added a photo to my original post. Took the wife out for a test ride in the sand and trails. It was in the mid 90's so she was anxious for me to get the thing moving. Of course we had to drink a couple Bud Lites to keep cool. Your health is important so drink plenty of liquids in hot weather.
