Doug80638, I see your location is NH. I have to be up that way for work next week. Seabrook, NH for a new BJs thats going in. I'll be in Seabrook for a month pulling network cable and stuff. How's the weather up there.

No riding for me, but the wife will probably  have 1000+ miles when I get back.

I know the brake pads are thin but the ones on this machine are gone. I'll get some pics in a few. Don't know how the pads could be wore that bad with only 265 miles. Even if some one had a foot on brake and gas at same time for 265 miles. That would be the only way. I'm starting to think the guy I got it from must have been related to a dealer. Saying anything to make the sale.

Started thinking about the belt and clutch after I made the post. I think I'm going to take your advice. Just change the oil and filter and repair the turn signal. Add a stereo and speakers, extra lights, CB radio, sound deadening material, maybe a diy snorkel and complete doors and ride until something brakes.

I've got too many other projects to complete before I start taking this thing apart. Got 2 boats to complete and sale. A truck to clean out and sale. Not to mention a storage building to clean out. Along with the honey do list that I have not completed  from last year. Leveling low spots in driveway and yard. I'm wore out just thinking about it. LOL

Thanks for the reply and info.

I don't think the clutch is slipping too much.  It's pulls good. The acceleration is good. After wife and I came back from our ride, went on a solo ride to play in a little mud and a little climb. It did good. Not as good as my foreman but did OK. 4 wheel drive did good. Differential lock did good. Dug the last 10 ft up the hill but it was wet and about a 40°ish incline.

Since the thing is 8 years old, could the clutch belt material be wore out? If I replace the belt, what else should I change as long as I'm that deep into it. Looks as if the gas tank has to come out before taking the cover off engine. Is there a repair manual available for the beast at low cost aka free.

The oil I used was atv 5-30 from auto zone. I plan on a complete oil and filter change soon. Read here somewhere somebody said they use Rotella T6. Thoughts?

Don't  know the RPMs there no tach on the machine. I've got a tiny tack knock-off that I am going to install. I was just going by how loud the engine sounded and thought it was high rpm.

There has to be some way to make this a litter quieter. It's just too loud inside the cab. If I can't going to have to get earplugs or muffs.  Cab is not enclosed. Just the ROPS, roof, and windshield. Just a lot of engine noise I guess. Maybe the sound is bouncing off the bed back into cab. I can make something to try to contain the sound to engine compartment.

Also need a good affordable  source for parts. The front brake pads are gone. If I don't change soon it will need rotors also. Good thing the engine braking works good. Would the engine braking be a sign of good compression?

Thanks for the reply.

Was able to rock the machine back and forth so nothing is locked up with wheels. Tires were a little low so correct that issue.

The axle thing was just the thin metal dust cover(?) around the axle shaft that goes into hogs head. Was able to push it back on by hand. May have to add a little silicone to keep it in place.

Got to dig a little deeper to see if I can quiet the thing down some. Maybe a noise absorb barrier.

Is there some way to buff the windshield. Has a lot of scratches. Nothing deep just a little hard to see.

Was going to repair the wires going to front turn signals. But both bulb holders are AWOL.

Checked oil and it was low. Added 1/4 +- oil. Just read in a manual that the engine oil lubes the clutch. So would that make it take higher revs to move the machine?

Going to take the boss for a ride. Hope it grows on her. If not, it may have to be replaced.

UForce 500 / 2013 CF600-5 New (to me)

Hello all,

Just bought a new (to me) 2013 CF600-5. From looking over the forum, I understand it is aka SWAT or Rancher. The machine has low miles 265. I asked the owner repeated it mileage was correct. If speedo was ever disconnected and reconnect later. He assured me mileage was correct and never disconnected. Said it was his wife's and wasn't driven a lot.

Anyway, my question is, how easy should these roll when the park brake is off and machine is in neutral. Seems like it a lot of throttle to get it moving.

The machine is kinda loud. Can't hold a conversation with passenger without shouting.

The previous owner replaced the right rear axle. Due to boot being ripped and mud getting in CV joint. I see that the axle is new. But has a space on the top of the seal(?) where the axle goes in the differential housing (hogs head). But the bottom has no space. And the driver's side is flush top and bottom. Think I'm going to try and "tap" the top in. Just want to know if that would hurt anything. I'll take a pic and upload once I start working on it.

I'm going to jack up each wheel and see how easy they spin. To see if a brake may be sticking or something.

Sorry about the long read.

Thanks in advance.

Killer Kilgore.
