Z8rider is correct regarding the ECU re-flash.

I contacted CFMoto regarding my P0172 error code and the poor running caused by it.  My code has since cleared and the machine is currently running correctly again.  However, CFMoto customer service said, take the machine to any dealer and they can send the ECU to CFMoto under a warranty claim and CFMoto will re-flash the ECU with a programming change that will correct the issue and send it back to the dealer.  I have not had the opportunity to do this yet but I will report back once I have done so to convey if it solved the problem for sure.

Chris57,

Did you get to the bottom of this with your dealer?  It happened to mine this past weekend at 50 miles on the odometer.

I own a 2019 cForce 800 XC.  The user manual lists the following information related to oils / lubes.

Items Specifications
Engine Oil SAE15W/40 SG
Transmission oil SAE75W/90 GL-5
Brake Fluid DOT4
Front Gear Case Oil SAE80W/90 GL-5
Rear Gear Case Oil SAE80W/90 GL-5
Grease Pivot Points All Season Grease

Since 15W/40 is hard to come by, 10W/40 is also acceptable.

It does have an internal cartridge style filter and is NOT a screw on type.

I have not had the clutch area open, but it is my understanding it IS a dry clutch.

Not what I wanted to hear.  Just over 430 miles and now does not run.

I have much less time on my 800 XC and have not experienced any codes yet.  So, unfortunately, I have no insight to contribute.

Please keep us posted as to what the dealer finds so we can be aware of the cause if we experience the same error code.

End of May.  Sounds like you are participating in the Central Mountains ATV Association ride.?  Enjoy your ride!

Pacific Eagle, I missed the live event.

Do you know when or if a replay will be posted?

I would like to see the cForce 800 xc in racing conditions.

CForce 800 XC / Re: First impressions

Here is what I did to make my rear rack more usable.  I made it with spare plywood, an old dog run cable and paint I had laying around my shop.  The only thing I needed to buy is metric bolts to attach it to to the factory rack (I removed four of the bolts holding the plastic cap on the factory metal rack and used those holes to bolt my homemade extension on).  Since I used existing mounting holes it is total removable with out leaving any signs of modification to the original factory rack.  I also needed to purchase eye bolts to create posts to hold the cable.  The cable provides infinite tie down points for anything I need to strap into the rack.

CForce 800 XC / Re: 2019 CForce 800 XC, any concerns?

Thank you singlemalt for the Canada article / link.  It sounds like reliability is off to a good start.  I am looking forward to the Feb. / March update that they promised in the article.

It looked like a mechanically good machine to me also which is why I bought one.  Looks can sometimes be deceiving.  I am hoping in this case they are not.  Time will tell.  I will keep everyone posted with my personal experience as time progresses.  Most of our trails are still closed in my part of PA so I won't get some serious time on the machine for a few more months yet.

Thank you all for your input and your insight regarding using 0W-40 in cold weather conditions.

Good to know tolerances are tight enough that you can run a 0W oil in them and not lose it to consumption.

I will also take the advice to change it much before the documented 20 hour "break in" period.  This is very cheap insurance. :)

I don't know what oil is in it.  I just took delivery of the machine from my dealer last week.  Do these machines come from CFMoto loaded with oil or is it the dealer's responsibility to fill them with fluids before delivery?

After the test I mentioned at the dealer, I no longer believe it is a concern.  Oil pressure comes up quick once the engine is warm and no oil pressure warnings or alarms experienced while running.

Thanks for the insight regarding the CFMoto oil.  What ever is in it, it won't be in there long as I will be changing it after the recommended 20 hour breaking period.

CForce 800 XC / 2019 CForce 800 XC, any concerns?
February 27, 2019, 07:48:53 AM
I know the 2019 CForce 800 XC is brand new in all areas compared to prior CForce 800 models (chassis and engine) and as of this time there are not many out there.  However, I took a chance and pulled the trigger on purchasing one.

Any 2019 CForce 800 XC owners out there that have discovered any issues or concerns?

I had a minor one related to the oil pressure light / alarm.  On a cold start, the oil light stays on long enough to produce 2 to 3 beeps out of the oil pressure alarm.  Initially, this felt a little long to me.  However, it is very cold right now here in PA and began to wonder if it was just related to the freezing cold conditions (thick oil).  So I stopped by my local CFMoto dealer to have them show me a cold start on their demo 2019 CForce 800 XC and it does the same thing (oil light stays on long enough for 2 to 3 beeps to come from the oil pressure alarm).  Therefore, at this point I am going to assume it is normal.  On the up side it is good to know the oil pressure light / alarm is sensitive enough to catch true issues if they do arise due to oil pump problems while operating the machine.

Anyone experiencing anything else?

Thanks for the insight regarding the 1000.  That puts my mind at ease a little.  I hope you are correct about the new 800s such that the positive trend will continue.

Also, I'll be my own contributor here regarding the oil alarm.  I stopped by my local dealer on the way home from work today and had them fire up their demo 2019 CForce 800 XC.  The oil light on their unit also remained on and the alarm beeped two or three times before the oil light went off just like mine.  Therefore, I am going to assume it is a normal condition for our cold weather starts here in PA right now.  I will continue to monitor, but as of now, I don't think it is anything to worry about.

CForce 800, X8 / Re: CForce 800 / X8 Service/Shop Manual

This Service / Shop Manual is awesome.  Anyone have one for the new 2019 CForce 800 XC yet?

Regarding your CForce 800 XC comments...Yes this thing caught my eye also!  So much so, I took the leap of faith and bought one.

Now I am nervous as h-ll about my purchase!

Brand new design, including the 800 cc engine (not the same 800 as offered in prior years).  I hope CFMoto got it right and she ends up being reliable.  My nerves will not settle down until I get some reliable hours out of it.

There needs to be a CF0rce 800 XC specific category as it is not the same machine as prior CForce 800(s).

Anyone out there have experience with the newly designed 2019 CForce 800 XC that can help put my mind at ease a bit?

I do have one concern already.  On a cold start, the oil pressure alarm does produce about 3 beeps, before the oil light goes out and the alarm stops beeping.  Once it does go out, I have not had any oil pressure warnings while running so it may be "normal"?  It only concerns me because I have never had a motor cycle or other machine where the oil warning stayed on so long during a cold start.  Any one else experiencing this characteristic related to their 800 XC?
