Update. The new guides got here pretty quick, just had a chance to put it back together, but not before I checked the weights, they were not all the same, even weighed the sliders and they were not the same either, so I made them all within .01g of each other with the sliders. Problem solved! Clutch is nice and quiet now, hopefully it lasts a lot longer now that it's much more balanced. Thanks again for the advice

Wow! Nicely put sir, I actually understand what you explained, I will order those now, it's still apart and I'm going away for an xtra long weekend, alpha sports has been great for me on delivery time, so hopefully when I get back I'll have them, and check the weights to make sure there the same, thank you once again NMK and all the others on this site, I've learned a ton of shit from you guys!

General Discussion / 2020 c600 primary noise
May 25, 2021, 07:38:17 PM
Hey all, lately I've noticed an annoying rap like sound getting louder, I can hear it all the time now except at high rpms, I was confident at the beginning that it was the clutch but the other day I started second guessing that theory, so I pulled the primary clutch and fired it up, and sure enough, no noise at all, but what I don't understand is why? I have 4 cfmotos in the family and they all make a little noise (from the primary) but nothing like this. I'll try to post a video of it running when I had it apart to set the valves, you can't miss the noise, it only has 600 miles on it and I did put heavier weights in it but I see nothing wrong, loose or dirty, there's not much to these. Any ideas? Or just drive it and enjoy it? Still works perfectly

Just tore mine down tonight, not to bad, it's a 2020 single seat I imagine the 2 up is similar. The gas tank cover is bolted thru the front wheel wells (have to partially remove fender liners) and the side covers bolt and clip thru rear wheel wells. Remove instrument panel then side covers to reveal tank bolts. I had to stop at that point, but now the upper radiator hose needs to be removed to get valve cover off but I can't find a petcock or a drain anywhere, so it looks like tomorrow I'm just gonna have to make a mess and pull the bottom hose

Check the front drive shaft, carrier bearing under the console went bad on mine at 1100 miles, was doing the same as yours and eventually made the noise always in 4wd, if that's your problem I got mine at alpha sports pretty quickly, pretty easy fix, good luck

What a pia, didn't realize how many nooks and crannies there are until you wrap one. Good learning experience, it's definitely a 10 footer. Overall I like it

Mine did that a while back, after many hours of testing fuel pressure and all electrical parts that I could, a friend suggested I change the fuel filter, only had 900 miles on it, can't be bad yet. Well it wasn't dirty and I was getting fuel pressure but it had fallen apart inside and there was a perfect piece inside blocking fuel volume. New filter and back to normal. Lesson learned, start with the basics before you look into it to deep, good luck, hope it's an easy fix

No clutch kit, just put heavier weights in the primary, eBay has a ton listed but at the time I couldn't find the weight I needed so I found a website called can-am parts guy, they had the 14g I needed, like I said, it was a bit too heavy so I drilled them down to 13.5g and worked perfect for me, since my last post I set my secondary at B2 and that really woke this thing up across the board, this thing rips compared to stock, I'm leaving it alone now, very happy, don't know why the factory doesn't set them up like this, but I don't mind trying different things, not much else to do these days

Usually you'd get some advice to put some heavier weights in the primary, or change the spring for quicker engagement, but in my opinion, and I'm no specialist, it sounds like you may have something going wrong in there, or mabe just a bunch of crap in there, you should probably start by taking it apart and clean it up a little to inspect, there's plenty of videos out there, hopefully it's an easy fix for ya!

Nope, plenty of room and I also added 1" spacers for a little more stability, rides nice

After messing around with pennies I figured out I needed a set of 14g weights for the primary clutch for a lower rpm engagement, it was just a bit too low (could hear the secondary moving at idle sometimes) So I carefully drilled each weight down to 13.5g. Perfect! I had already set the secondary on c1 but I felt it needed more, so I went to a2, because I also upgraded to a set of, lets call them affordable 27" sunf tires. I'm actually pretty impressed with them for the money, pretty stiff sidewall on them though I'm only running 3 1/2 lbs in them and it rides nice, so far so good. Anyways I got it back together after work and took it for a quick ride out back, wow! This thing does 0-32 in about 2 seconds but then it takes a while but I did hit 50. I'm gonna run it this way for a while because I mainly just do some trail riding around here in the snow in the winter and I think it'll be fine for that, but I do think I'll go back 1 setting to b2, which I skipped over, I think it'll be perfect then and mabe I'll leave it alone, mabe. My 2 kids got together and got me that cool rival front bumper for Xmas, I really like it. That's it, just letting some other owners know what I've been trying and what my opinions are

ZForce 500/550 / Re: z500 Clutch Sliders
January 03, 2021, 05:53:33 PM
Had my 17 z500 apart last week to reclock to b2, which I am very pleased with, I did take the primary apart to clean it and I weighed the sliders, mine are 14g and grabs at a pretty low rpm compared to what my new c600, that only came with 10g, so I left the z alone, I did get a set of 14's from the can-am guy and the 600 is so much better now. It's all owner preference, if you change it and don't like it, you can always go back, good luck

Absolutely, I don't understand why they use such a light weight on these machines, rpm way too high, so much better now

No, just push out the weights, put a penny in first, push the weight back in, you can experiment with more or less but make sure it's distributed evenly so it stays balanced, once you figured out what works for you, you may wanna order the correct weights and toss the pennys
