Howdy all,
I have a 2020 800 Trail. We used it a lot the first year. Not so much the last year as I had knee problems and the smoke was really bad due to forest fires. Got my knee replaced this year and we wanted to go out and the first outing was great although it was pretty darn muddy. We took it it a self serve car wash and cleaned it up as good as we could.

My wife took it out a few weeks later to her Rotary meeting in town and had no problem. She wanted to take it out again but it wouldn't start. No lights came on in the dash, no clicks, nothing.  so I went to put a charger on it. After spending an hour or three trying to find the battery, I put a charger on it set at 2 amps and left it on overnight to get it fully charged. The charger said it was fully charged and so did the 800. It stated fine and my wife took it to the next meeting.

We wanted to take it out the next weekend and went out to start it. The lights came on, but not enough power to turn it over. I neglected to put on the trickle charger wiring, which I will correct this time when I put on the charger.

My question is, do you think the battery is toast? If so, what should I replace it with? Is there a better place for the battery besides the wheel well? I don't have any add ons so there isn't any big power draws but would a dual battery help any?  Also, is there a good jumper relocation kit  at a decent price? Just in case?

Thanks, Ktown

P.S. Anyone else wish they would have bought a 4 seater?

My bad, the dashboard lights came on all the time the key was turned.

It was the darn kill switch as @NMKawierider mentioned.

The brain fog from the surgery and lack of meds messed up my head more than I realized.

Thanks everyone, the Z8 is back up and running. Hopefully she remembers that she can't drive it on the streets at night as there are no turn signals.

Thanks, I will have her try that. And I will let you  know.

My wife drove the Z-800 over to the County Fair as she was in charge of the pie eating contest. I asked her to come home and feed the dogs as I had Sinus Surgery yesterday and the pain was getting to me. ( I took an Oxycodone in the morning and had nothing for almost 8 hours) I was starting to hurt pretty bad.

Well, she went out to start the Z800 but noticed she had left it in H not park. But had the parking brake on. She put it in Park and put the key in and turned the key to start it. But nothing happened. No click from the solenoid, nothing turning from the starter, no sound whatsoever.

She called me and I had her try various things like rocking it in park, in high, with and without the parking brake on. Just to see if a sensor was stuck. Then I had her try to start it in N, and in H and then moving it back to Park.

All the lights on the panel came on, no error lights were blinking. The headlights came on as well.

She tried it with and without the seat belt on. With and without the foot brake on.

She finally had to catch a ride to come home and help me to bed and feed the dogs. And then head back to the County Fair where she was going to help run the Rotary's food stand.

Anyone have any suggestions of what else to try?

Thanks, Dan

I finally got my assortment of goodies that I ordered and I finally have some time to install them. I tackled the easiest first.

While the side mirrors are good, I really like to see what is behind me. So, I got a rear view mirror. It is a panoramic style, fairly cheap as I wasn't sure I would like it. Good thing too as it is a bit large for the ROPS cage.
Anyone have any suggestions as to an easy way to get it to fit tighter around the cage? I was thinking of using some rubber pieces to help with the anti-vibration.

Next, I am going to add the inch and a half wheel extenders. Yes, I know, I bought the Trail version. But, that was all I could find. And, I want to make it a tiny bit less tippy.

I bought some fiberglass exhaust header heat wrap that I want to try to keep the heat out of the engine bay. We'll see how easy that is to apply.

Also, along with the heat wrap, I both a heat and sound self-stick panel to apply to the back of the cab. Maybe it will keep some of the heat out of the cab. Well see.

Finally, I bought UHMW skid plate. I may have to trim some pieces, we'll see.

As I get things done, I will post pictures.

Thanks guys, I haven't heard/seen Maxima SC-1.

I will take a look at it

As long as it works, I am all in favor of taking it easy way.

For detailing sprays, I have been using Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay System. The Hybrid Ceramic spray leaves behind a ceramic type coating that really enhances the shine and water repellency.

This past Saturday, we took possession of our new 2021 ZForce 800 Trail SXS. We couldn't wait to take it out and we did, to the nearest place we could ride. The Wolford Mountain Recreation Area which has about about 120 miles of trails available to SXS's, Jeeps and other motorized vehicles. And there is a lot more available for things on their feet or non gas powered wheels. (Horses, bikes, pogo sticks, etc..)

We put 3 hours and 40 miles our first trip and about the same on our second trip on Sunday. We also drove into town on Sunday for our dinner directly from the trail. Our town allows you to ride on the side streets!!

We can ride from our driveway to the trails in about 8-10 minutes. We just love it.

My wife took a picture of me in our new toy. I attached a map of the Wolford Rec Area, the majority is BLM land with a bit of it being National Forest land.

Just a heads up, be careful with Lithium batteries. They don't perform well at all when they are cold. Had 2 in a quad I had, 15 degree morning and it wouldn't start. After researching, Tesla's and such have battery heaters to make them put out. So if you ride in cold weather, stick to lead acid or AGM's

Good Point on the LI's!! As good as they are, they don't like cold weather at all.

That's why most people who do cold weather activities, like skiing/riding, skating, ice fishing and use their phones/ I-pods, etc. always keep them close to their bodies or use a self heating toe warmer thingie (A technical term!) if they need to keep it in an outside pocket of their jacket. The reason you use a toe warmer thingie is due to it having a sticky pad on it so that it stays in place.

It keeps the battery warmer so it lasts longer and works better.

General Discussion / Re: Ethanol Free Fuel

Ethanol Free fuel is hard to find here. But, I do use it in my sleds when I trailer them to where I want to ride and they have it there.

For my seasonal usage small engine machines (now just my snow thrower as I have switched to battery powered for most everything else) I  use Tru Fuel. Yes, it is more expensive and not worthwhile to run in a SxS but I barely go through a gallon in my beast of a snowthrower.

I do use a fuel stabilizer though since it may be weeks between rides as the season progresses. Hopefully not, but, just in case...

Stared at it longingly as I wanted to take it out but my wife said I had to help clean the house and do other chores first.

Did I mention she is a meanie?

But, in all fairness, she is working and I am retired due to my brain injury..

For what it's worth, make sure the surface is really clean before you apply the Rain-X. I like Stoner Invisible glass. It has no ammonia in it and no detergent to leave any residue behind.

Then apply a coat of rain-x using a paper towel, making sure to apply in overlapping circles. Let it flash off and then apply your second coat. Lightly spray a microfiber towel with the glass cleaner and then use it to wipe off the haze. Then buff it with a clean microfiber.

Now, take a used dryer sheet and lightly wipe the inside of the windshield.

Since the windshield is plastic and not glass, there is going to be a static charge build up. That is going to help the water stick to the windshield. The dryer sheet sill help reduce the static charge and allow the water to flow freer.

Instead of rain-x, you can also use spray wax. The kind where you spray it on while the car is still wet. The water helps disperse the wax agent and when you wipe it off you buff it in. And each time you wash and use it, it builds up protection. Just carry a dryer sheet with you to use as needed.

Okay, now that I know HOW to fil it when replacing it.

I have another question:

When, and how often, should I replaced the diff fluid? Besides the minimum recommended in the manual?

And, any suggestions on what type/brand? I will also check the How To but, since this popped up, I thought I would ask here as well.

I am somewhat of a fanatic when it comes to protecting the finish of my cars. An amateur detailer if you will. I have two foam cannon's, a bunch of different detailing equipment including a couple of different random orbital polishers.

So, oh great fellow members, what tips, tricks and products have you found that work will with this amazing machine?

I want to go out again today and get it dustier but my wife wants me to work on the back yard and other projects. Such a meanie!!

Just an FYI: Anytime you get a machine back from the dealer after having work performed and you notice a change for the worse or an error message appears (error code, idiot light, etc.) Notify the dealer and tell them you are bringing it back. That way, they can't say it was something YOU did. The longer you have it in your possession with it running sub-par, without the dealer (or whomever worked on it) the less of a leg you stand on.

This is definitly something the dealer caused by either doing something wrong, or by not doing something they should have. And they need to fix it on their own dime. If it was a part that should have been replaced, you may have to pay for the part. But the labor is on them.

And, I think THEY should come and pick it up and return it. But, that is just my wallet talking.

To get to the trails near my house, I do have to run on the paved roads for a couple of miles. And since my machine is new, I do have to vary the throttle levels, which I do. But, just for fun, I did increase the throttle to almost full and the speedometer did register over 65 mph. And, I was on the flat and level.

Notice, I did mention that the speedo REGISTERED 65 mph? My GPS tracker read closer to 60 mph. And on the just graded, mag chloride sprayed dirt roads I run on as well, to get to some distant parts of the Wolford Rec Area, I have also registered over 60 mph. (GPS tracker showed closer to 55-58+)

And, no, I do not run 4wd, I switch it off and only use it when needed. I did climb some pretty steep, rock strewn hills in 2wd that I was damn amazed my z800 trail got up with no problem. Only a couple of scrapes as I have learned to keep on the high side. (I do have an UHMW skid package on order)

I believe so.  Compare part numbers at alpha-sports.

It's a tight fit on the 800. Not sure I'll buy them again.
[/size]

Did you try the alternative sizes that Singlemalt suggested: " You can also use Wix 51394 for regular oil or 51394XP for synthetic oil. These latter two spin on filters are just over 1/2" shorter than the previously mention filters (if space or access is an issue)" Granted, these are for the spin-on adapter.

The WL10090 is a direct replacement cartridge style filter so there should be no fitment issue.
