CForce 1000 / Steering problems
August 13, 2026, 03:47:20 AM
Not used my quad for several months now, in fact hardly used it at all since the last prop bearing replacement.
Anyway took my daughter in to town last night and decided to go on the quad.
Now it hasn't been moved for several months and has sat on the driveway under a cover all this time.
First thing I noticed was the steering didn't feel right.
The handlebar seemed to be slightly off-center to the right and I could detect it pulling slightly to the left.
Thought it must be my imagination.
Then daughter mentioned she thought she could hear a scraping noise as though I was dragging something underneath, so I stopped and had a good look but all seemed fine.
We carried on and got to town without incident, about 15 kilometers.

But something is definitely not right with it. It doesn't go round corners to the right as easily as to the left.
It's difficult to describe but there just seems to be more effort involved in steering to the right.
And the handlebar is definitely squint.
I wonder if it could be something to do with the 4wd system and the way the front wheels are engaged when in 4wd mode?

Probably going to have to take it back to the shop for them to look at.

CForce 1000 / Why No Glove Box?
February 17, 2025, 06:12:01 AM
One thing I regret about my Overland is the lack of a glove box.
There's just nowhere to store things such as wallet, glasses, charging lead for phone, or even gloves, other than putting them in the huge load area at the back.
Let's say it's summertime and hot. I want to go to the shop. I'm wearing shorts and T. No pockets. I want to take my quad. Where can I put my wallet? I've got a phone holder attached to the handlebar, but what about my wallet? A simple glove box near the handlebar would be perfect.
Any aftermarket sellers out there?

General Discussion / Noise From Transmission
February 10, 2025, 12:11:18 PM
Out on my quad today (2023 1000 Overland) and there was a noise coming from the transmission/drivetrain - loud enough that I returned home.
It was like a rattling or grinding noise - never heard it before today.

It only happens when I release the throttle and the engine braking comes on, and also when the engine braking cuts out due to reduced speed and I'm freewheeling.

When i'm pulling away it's fine - loads of power, usual engine sound, no strange noise.
I'm concerned enough that I don't want to ride it to the dealer in case I damage something.

Anyone else heard anything like this?

CForce 1000 / Speed Limiter Removed But No Foot Brake
September 22, 2023, 06:36:36 AM
Took my Overland to the shop for a couple of issues - get the speed limiter removed, and foot brake fixed.

They got sent the wrong part for the limiter - one for a 625 Touring, they fitted it and said it ran even slower than before, then realized it was the wrong part.
Next day the correct part arrived and they fitted it. Speed now up from 63km/h to 115km/h - result.

The foot brake is a different matter.
After the break-in service a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the foot brake was much easier to press and assumed that they had adjusted it. But over the next few days it became ineffective so I raised this with the shop. They said they haven't touched the brakes because it's not part of the break-in service (even though it's listed in the user manual "Break-in Maintenance" on page 125 "Foot brake / Hand brake - Inspect function, Adjust as necessary") so they'll look at it when the limiter part arrives.

They now say it needs a new part that they'll have to get from CFMoto but it will be under the warranty. Only done 600kms so far so this isn't very reassuring of build quality.
I didn't catch exactly what part is broken because I was in a hurry and my Spanish is crap.

So I can still use my quad at double the speed but the foot brake is still ineffective. Just have to be careful until the new part arrives.

Do all 1000 overlands have limited slip differentials?

The only reference I can find for this is an Australian site, but Australia has new safety regulations in place for quads that don't apply elsewhere in the world and the advertising over there specifically mentions limited slip diffs.
I'm in Spain and the Spanish version of CFMOTO website doesn't mention limited slip diffs.

Can I tell by looking at my diff whether it is a limited slip version?

CForce 1000 / Throttle too sensitive at low speed
June 26, 2023, 04:18:09 AM
My 1000 throttle is just too sensitive at low speed.
If I try reversing I just keep hopping backwards unless I use a bit of speed.
Likewise in forward gears I only have to touch the throttle and it jumps forward.
After a good run when I'm used to the sensitivity I can control it better, but is there any way to apply a little free play on the initial throttle opening?
Or is this just a case of practice?

Here's me heading off on my new quad.
Loving it.

I've never owned an ATV before but have wanted one for a number of years now.
I'm in my fifties and now in a position to be able to buy a new vehicle.
I could buy a new car but here in Spain where I live it will only get dented and scratched in the supermarket car parks.
I would really like a big bike but I don't have a bike license and my Spanish isn't really up to taking the test.
So as I was in town the other day I spotted the most beautiful quad bike I have ever seen. It was parked outside a local dealer and they were just fitting a license plate to it, for the new owner to take away I presume. I had to stop for a look and to enquire as to the price. It was a CF Moto CForce 1000 Overland.
Over 13k Euros. Expensive.
I want one.
How to justify it though? More importantly, how to justify it to the wife?
I live on a hillside with a couple of acres of land. Loads of small roads and tracks around but mostly paved roads.
I'd probably use it more for the half hour drive into town than going out on the trail.
I watched a couple of YT videos of driving this thing on paved roads and the reviews were really good. It's fast enough and sounds really nice. It's pretty much the size of a small car so not many benefits to driving in town. It might be useful on my land if I get a trailer.
But it might spend most of its time sitting in the garage with me waiting for an excuse to go out. And I don't know anyone else with one nor any off road clubs around here, only a couple of quad-tour companies for the tourists.
So that's my dilemma.
I have the money to buy it but it's a lot of money for an ornament.
