ZForce 500/550 / Clearing check engine light
October 25, 2023, 08:01:29 AM
CEL started flashing a while ago when my 550 jumped timing. She is all rebuilt now and running like a dream, but the CEL is still flashing...

Will this clear itself? Is there a way to clear it without the reader?

I saw something somewhere about jumping some pins on something to clear it but I can't remember where in the manual I found this...

Thanks for any help.

ZForce 500/550 / Timing tensioner screw
October 19, 2023, 01:46:30 PM
Hey all. Just changed the timing tensioner during a top end rebuild and the old tensioner got thrown away with the cap/screw.

Now the new tensioner spits oil out of the hole in it.

Does anyone know the thread and size of the screw that plugs the hole?

Thanks.

Hey all. The other day my 550 died going up hill, smelt fuel so I thought she flooded or something but when I took the plug out, it was black, covered in oil. Pulled the intake boot from the throttle body and there is just oil everywhere... compression sounds funny/weak and I noticed now I'm getting big puffs of air OUT THE FRONT of the throttle body (intake side)
Did I jump timing? Is there oil everywhere because I smashed a valve? :( really not looking forward to opening up the engine but I wanted to ask here first if it sounds like I even should, or just replace the block.

TIA

ZForce 500/550 / Crank and spark, but no start :(
May 17, 2023, 04:53:38 PM
Hey all.

The 550 Was running great and we stopped for lunch then she wouldn't start after that. Good spray from injector, spark plug sparking, air filter was clean as a whistle, and she won't start...
Now she's flooded right out to the point at got fuel coming out the exhaust side

Any sensors or anything to check first before tearing in to timing? :(

(Also found this ground wire hanging out when I went searching. Attached down bellow to the frame where the green grounds from the fuse box attaches, and comes up to the engine. Where does it attach??)

TIA

ZForce 500/550 / Zforce 550 clutch bearing direction
March 01, 2023, 06:48:51 PM
Hey guys. New to the forum and a new Zforce owner. Got a 2016 550 for a good deal but it's had its abuse...

Belt recently blew up on me so I put a new one on tonight and now it's extremely hard to shift in to gear with the engine running. Once in gear it seems to run fine, but getting it in gear I feel like I'm going to snap the lever. With the engine off it shifts no problem.
I'm going to take the cover off again and inspect it running to see if anything is noticeable right away in the clutch.

My main question is which way should the one-way bearing be facing or spinning, towards the front of the machine or towards the back? (Counter clockwise or clockwise?)
Upon inspection it appeared to look like it was 2 bearings with a sheave over them making it one unit, but after researching on here, it seems more like my bearing has actually fallen apart as i can slide the casing off the 2 portions and slip them back in together. The one way bearing should be one solid part right?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm a newbie and haven't torn a clutch apart like this since my snowmobile days back in like '04.
Thanks!
