it did the 5000rpm and no read out briefly....then engine light came on...with speed sensor code.   however, i kept driving it, and the started working as per norm.
S peedometer worked full on...and no more 5000rpm limitation has happened.   code dissappeared off the screen.   i think the ecu is learning again?  seems to now be working normal.
i will still be taking it in for warranty check.  i won't be clearing anything until they check it out.

Be sure to flush it out with spray contact cleaner. Don't want any BS inside. Does it work now?

started, ran fine.   i am waiting to road /trail test it.

there isno way that connectir is meant to pull off without depressing the metal clip.

the plug came out without much effort.
looks like some fluids were here...not sure if it was supposed to be easy to unplug.

..and here is another picture of the end of the sensor i unplugged

On 2015 Z800 if I pull the seats and back plastics...or if I drop the main skid plate.. it's easy to get to. You might just find something in there between the sensor of the rotor. Also common.

The actual vehicle speed sensors on the older ones were mounted on the outside of the engine case on the front side where many did have a problem with water and other issues. Looks like they still do put it there. I would look there first if my display didn't register any motion when in motion. Who knows what effect that would have on the ECU if that data was cut off. P050129 isn't in the list I have but P050100 is and stated it's the vehicle speed sensor and effects mileage and performance which it likely mean it sets-off a limiter.

thank you for the excellent info!!
is this a difficult part to replace?

i need to find.out where the sensor plugs in near the gear selector b4 i attempt to replace.

here is the video of it in action;

ZForce 950/1000 Sport & EX / 950 speed sensor issue
July 07, 2024, 10:35:06 PM
Any one have issues with this?  it caused
y speedometer to only show a value of 0km/ mph, even when moving. the rpm limited to 5000rpm

code p050129.

i reset it via my scanner. it came back.  reset again..
worked ok for a few km.. went to rpm limitation again.
not sure why it now works ok...then goes into a limp type mode,...no speedometer function, then back to limp mode performance.

i was thinking it happened after going
thru a minor water puddle...
iis it possible that water or dirt is causing the issue.? any idea where in the console it is connected? i will try and attach a video or picture.

Trying to figure out if my power steering motor is toast, or is on its way to failure.
Had it looked at, originally they thought it was a voltage issue, and my battery was weak (i have a kimpex gel battery in it ) New battery proved it wasn't the issue, as it continues to have the same issue.

I have eps when it is running, and sometimes works at idle without throttle, other times it doesn't. Other times it works at speed on the road,..but feels sketchy.  IT feels weak at times.

I got a second opinion from a former cfmoto dealer mechanic,  says it sounds like the eps unit could be damaged...
It may require an eps unit replacement....($)..
Is there any chance it could be anything else?
FUse seems fine. Is there any sensors that could be failing?  Would a speed sensor cause issue possibly?
