The doors finally arrived and I installed them.  They were expensive, but very easy to install on my 800EX and look great.  I've included pictures and the installation instructions.    I also started a new topic about them.

I was able to order the doors that come with the 1000s from my dealer.  They were expensive, but very easy to install on my 800EX and look great.  I've included pictures and the installation instructions.

I just ordered (today) a set of the 1000 doors for my 800 from the dealer and they are charging me $600.  I will post a picture as soon as everything is ready. 

Have you had any luck repairing this problem?  I have the same issue with my steering wheel.
