ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / Re: Turn signals installed
February 18, 2025, 04:43:31 PM
Had a minor failure with my turn signal kit.  The supplied hose clamp, used to hold the switch on the column,  was a little loose.  I tightened it and it failed.  Didn't have a replacement handy so, I used 14ga mechanics wire to make a clamp. This is the tool i used to pull the wire tight. https://a.co/d/249pGUx

Tried to post pics but could not make it happen.

Got this kit from a fellow in wyoming. Plug and play, didn't have to cut any wires.  Looks cool as well.

Assuming you are working with led lights.... have you tried reversing the polarity?  LEDs will only work with correct polarity.

Bought my 22 in Jan 23.  The dealer had installed leads on the battery  for a tender connection and were very adamant in telling me to keep a tender on it.

My 22 has a voltage reading in the display. Does the 23?  What does it read when running?  12v systems should read close to 13.6 volts with the engine running.

As a side note, lead acid batteries really like being fully charged.  Anything less than 12.6 volts with the engine off is an insult to the battery.  A battery maintainer will extend the life of batteries, especially power sport type.

This no crank issue returned, also noted the winch was dead as well.  Found the problem to be a bad connection on the fuse or fusable link that is the first connection from the battery.  Black thing that looks like a bus bar.  The batt side was well connected, the problem was the rear most connection with 2 large gauge wires.  One of the wire goes to the starter relay the other goes to the winch.  I disassembled the connection, checked for voltage and reassembled with a couple of star washers in the mix to help ensure good connection. Cranks and starts better than it ever has.  And the winch is faster as well.

Where Did You Ride This Weekend? / Big Lost River
May 13, 2024, 10:52:22 AM
Finally had a nice warm day off.  Went for a ride to see Box Canyon on the Lost River.  Rode from home.  Zero pavement.  About 20 miles. Had a good time exploring new area.  I'll try to upload a couple of pics.

Haven't had a chance to check the filter yet.  But, haven't driven it much since that photo was taken.  Been moving, trying to get the new place fixed up and set up.   I'll try to remember to do a follow up when I get a big enough "around-to-it" to cover working on the Z.

Went for a 20 mile ride in moderately dusty condition.  Pulled the dust tray from the separator to see what was in it.

ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / No crank issue solved
May 02, 2024, 03:32:23 AM
Would not crank but, did get a rather strong click/snap from what sounded like the starter relay.  Pulled the battery cover and the starter relay cover.  Checked the connections,  pushed/pulled on the 2 small wires plugged on to the starter relay.  Rigged my test light to see if the starter relay was making contact.  Turned the key and it cranked/started.  I'm assuming the problem was bad contact on the 2 small wires plugged onto the starter relay.  Pulled the connectors off filled them with grote connector sealing grease. reinstalled connections to the relay and it has been working well since.

Thanks for the help! It is greatly appreciated.

I uploaded a video showing the instrument panel on startup.   It is attached about 2 messages up.

Is there a port where a gauge can be attached?

Seems like an abnormally long time to build pressure.  Wondering if it needs to go in for warranty.
