Whole new adventure
« on: February 28, 2017, 08:55:28 AM »
Where to start.....semi-retired and moved to Arizona a few months ago from Minnesota, and purchased a new 2016 CFMoto ZForce 800 Trail. One of the local dealers recently added CFMoto to their line and and after doing some comparisons with other brands, my decision seemed pretty easy. They had a 2016 model in the crate and the price was certainly right. I am new to the sport so I will rely on this forum from time to time for good advice. I did have the dealer add a front flip windshield and also a rear window as well. One thing I really debated on was power steering. I drove both and felt that the unit without P.S. gave me a better feel.  Time will tell. Now the issue is finding the time to hit the trails. Wish us luck!

Welcome & congrads! You have some great areas to ride in out there. Enjoy. If it came with the paper airfilter, be sure to get it changed out to the Unifilter before doing anything. If it came with the CFM foam filter, you are good to go.

Thanks for the advice on the filter.  I will definitely change it out if it has the paper one. Working on putting together a kit of necessary items for emergencies and minor repairs on the trails as well.  It will all come together at some point. :)

One thing to keep in mind - you can add an aftermarket PS kit from either Wicked or SuperATV to your Z if you so choose down the road. I was really thinking a PS kit was one of my first 3 aftermarket purchases for my Wildcat, but I have yet to feel it is a necessity for my riding areas. The more important and practical upgrades for my ride were aftermarket tires (GBC Dirt Commanders - 8 ply that wear like iron) and springs to replace the crappy springs that Arctic Cat uses. I added an aftermarket exhaust which really woke up the 'Cat, and while I'm not ruling out an upgrade to power steering, it won't happen this year. I gained ground clearance and performance with those 3 mods.

Next on my list are a flip-up windshield and heated seats. That can wait til this Fall, and again it's a more worthwhile upgrade than PS for my needs.
2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail - 27" GBC Dirt Commanders, soft top, quarter windshield, AC front and rear steel bumpers, Bandit springs, EZ Ryde Midnight Edition exhaust, Plano 1719 storage box, Speedwerx throttle and secondary clutch spring, heated seats, Polaris seat slider.
