Newbie in Florida. Problems already.
« on: September 15, 2021, 07:24:00 PM »
My second ride in this brand new baby (2021 ZF950) and problems yet again. I finally got her back from the dealer after 5 weeks of runaround for issues the moment I got her home. Thinking she was all better, I installed the @SYA snorkel kit and hit the swamps. Ever since bringing her home from this second trip, the lights stay on regardless of what I do. I disconnected the battery for a week and let her rest. (After cleaning 6” of mud from the floorboards and cracks and crevices). I hooked up the battery today and the dash flashed 186mph and a fault code P050129. I plugged in a trickle charger and locked her up.
Any ideas? How water worthy are these things? I thought for sure I could fare with the RZRs. I held my own with the HighLifters and kept up with no troubles. All else is stock, even the baby Stag tires. There was nothing they could do that I couldn’t and they had the mud/paddle tires and extra 3” in every measurement.

Water Intrusion into everywhere, due to partial immersion?
Wire terminals, plugs, sockets, etc.
I'd unplug every single terminal, inspect for water, and/or mud, clean and re-install with a little Super Lube Di-Electric Grease.
However, dead shorts may have already damaged certain energized components.
My buddy has a two year old Can-Am. Before he even used it, he "weatherized" all his electric in this way.
I did it to my new Zforce 800 trail hoping to reduce potential for water intrusion.

You should be aware that there is nothing "water-proof" when it comes to Chinese electrical components...not even there water proof connections. I too suggest checking every electrical connection that could have gotten wet or under water during your rides. and taking steps to remedy their short comings... weather that be dielectric grease or a light coating of electrical-grade RTV...which I highly recommend.

Thank you both @boatfixx and @nmk! I’ve started this project and only found a couple so far that had any intrusion. Do either of you know how to remove the ignition switch? I assume it’s threaded and unscrews? There was much water behind the boot and I was suspecting it may have been a contributor to keeping the lights on with it unpowered. (Engine switch off)

Can't say I do either, but if you can get to the back of it, give it a good spray down with Corrosion-X, or Corrosion-Block. both are excellent products, both will disperse moisture, and with will stop further corrosion.

Thanks again. I got the key-switch apart and cleaned and sealed her up. Only water found in any connections was at the fuel pump.

Took it to a different dealership this time. One more knowledgeable in them. Speed sensor switch is flaking out and the key-switch must’ve gotten sand/water in it, it’s faulty too. Just made the second payment on it and only have driven it twice. So disappointing, but I would NEVER trade for a Polaris!! Claim is getting filed for warranty….
