New zforce 800 trail
« on: July 10, 2021, 06:41:52 PM »
Just picked up a 2021 zforce 800 trail. Did about 100 miles this last week and pretty happy with it so far. Drivers seatbelt failed about 50 miles in and I had to change the fan blower fuse at 75 miles. We probably didn’t treat it as nice as you should a new machine. My wife had it sunk in a mid puddle in the first two hours. Lol. We rode it hard for the first 100 and so far so good. I expected a couple small things to go wrong and I’m pretty handy.
A few things I’ll be looking up here to get started on making this machine better…. If there is something any new owner should be doing by default, let me know.

1. Air box mods or snorkel. Wonder if it voids the 3 year warranty I upgraded to?

2. ditching the seatbelts for harnesses

3. Adding a light bar. (Already bought one)

4. Wheel spacers?  It doesn’t feel tippy at all like I thought it would, but might add 1.5’s anyway.

5. Windshield!!!

6. Taking off the doors and putting the nets on for now. Might look for full doors for winter.

7. Is there anything to make the steering more responsive?  Seems like a lot of turning off the wheel to actually turn. That power steering sure is sweet though!

Welcome and congrats. No matter what, first thing is get that OE air filter out of there and get the Unifilter on it before any more riding.
I like the P/S too but like you it takes too much turning to get to a stop...and it's still not sharp enough. My friend's RzR 800 turns way sharper and it's only about 5/8s of a turn from center to a stop in either direction where ours is closer to a full turn...and it's still not as sharp as the RzR. There's a steering quickeners that you can install but it moves the steering wheel about 4" closer. Not good for me but it cuts the rotations down to just under 1/2 turn from center to stop. They do have these now that I was thinking about...but it won't help with the radius but I hear the rack you can get from SATV will so maybe...someday.

Thanks. Moving the wheel in that far does not sound like it’ll work.

I’m ordering a couple new uni air filters, oil filters and maybe the 1.5 wheel spacers today. Oh, and some fuses!

Have to take the seat belt back to dealer and hoping they’ll give me a discount in some harnesses instead of a replacement.

The very first thing I did was remove the seat belts, block off the big holes below them and install ACE Harnesses.
And before our first trip, I also isolated the air intake, and installed the UniFilter.
But now I'm convinced that I need to install a particle separator.
For the most part, these machines operate in a incredible amount of dust that in many cases clog up a UniFilter far too fast.
IMHO, a UniFilter and a particle separator is very cheap "assurance" for engine longevity.

Congrats! I have one too.
First is the air filter. uni please. You can do a fairly simple mod to the intake to box it in and stop inhaling tire dust and if it needs shop service easily removed.

Next I'd reconsider those wheel spacers. As you have found it really isn't tippy despite the claims of ringside observers. Spacers are hard on the bearings and hard getting through a 50" gate too. Oh and the wheel wells in the box of most pickups.

I would recommend way less tire pressure than CF Moto does. They say 14 and 10 pounds, I like 8 and 6, doesn't knock your teeth out the way harder tires do.
Hafe fun! :)

Thanks for the tips. I just dropped the faulty seat belt off and confirmed that a snorkel kit will not void the warranty so that is on the list. I’m in the northeast, so dust isn’t as much as a concern.

Anyone know where I can find the Uni air filter?  Seems to be out of stock everywhere I’ve looked.

If you can't find the UP-6229ST you can use the angled -AST. It does work. I see many places are out of both but Summit says they have one. Keep trying Amazon:
