New to me, 2016 Uforce 800
« on: January 02, 2025, 12:30:48 AM »
Hi All - Glad I found this forum and looking forward to learning and sharing about CF Moto's.  This is my first side by side.  I purchased a place in the mountains and it included the 2016 UForce 800 with a KFI snowplow setup.  So far everything has worked well.  I have snapped the synthetic winch line a couple times already, but that is easy to fix.  I already did the first oil change and I will say getting at the oil filter is a pain in the rear.

I am researching street legal kits.  It already has headlights, a horn, and taillights.  I really just need turn signals.  It even has a typical style turn signal lever on the steering column.  Is anyone familiar with kits that use the stock turn signal lever on the column instead of having to install a separate switch?  The Rough Country kit seems like a good deal, but it requires on rocker style switch to be installed.

This will help with your winch issue.

https://www.kfiproducts.com/plow-fairlead-pulley-wide.html

Either style of extraction fairlead will either get chewed up by your winch line, or will chew up your winch rope.
This setup (or type of setup) will mostly eliminate it.
I work at a ski resort and do the routine maintenance on our Plow ATVs and we were constantly breaking both wire rope and synth rope - these were NEW ropes, not old worn frayed ones. Often two or three times a day.
We were breaking the wire rope connstantly and switching to synthetic line helped but didn't completely cure the issue.
We started sawing through the rollers and the solid aluminum fairleads.
I ran across these styles and weve cut down a lot of down time due to snapped lines.
I also keep on hand a number of short lengths (8-12 feet) of pre made short ropes. I just pull off the broken rope and swap in a new piece of winch line.
Remember your only pulling at most a foot or so.
A lot of use will wear the area where it rubs over a smooth fairlead or roller one pretty fast.
lines also bind a lot at the roller edge on that roller fairleads.
If you taper cut the spool end of the line and wrap it really tightly with a length of tape leaving a tail you can thread through the spool hole it makes it pretty quick.
It also has the benefit of changing the line pull geometry and works a lot smoother.

Save your GOOD line for when your out playing and use your roller or block type fairlead then.

I KNOW Cle Elum can get pounded by snow, I'm pretty familiar with the area so get a decent quality replacement off of Amazon - Gear America and Fiery Red Ive had god results with) cut it into ten foot lengths and set yourself up some pre spliced ropes with ferrules (it's pretty easy to do) and keep your good recreational rope in tact.

Having a couple pre made will save ya a good bit of frustration once you get the hang of threading it into the spool.
finding these things has seriously cut down on my ranting and throwing tools . .  8)
