New to CFMOTO
« on: August 05, 2018, 08:19:29 AM »
Just bought a 2017 Zforce 800 EX with 250 miles on it. It is my first ATV since I bought a new 1986 Honda 350X. My wife and I live in Mn but bought a cabin in north western Wisconsin. I have been doing some reading on here so I already got a Unifilter and motor oil, gear lube, and grease are on their way. We will be doing most of our riding on black topped roads, trails, and 5 months of winter snow and ice so dust isn't as big of a concern as you desert riders.
I am used to riding in golf carts and this thing is so darn loud. I have been reading all the snorkel mods but I mostly want to find a way to cut down on the engine, clutch and drive train noise. Any suggestion would be appropriated.

Welcome. Yeah they are noisy and I am always on the look out for wants to cut the noise down. So far I have cut it well in half with mods like: Installing as much sound deadener behind the cab plastics and console as possible, sealing all ports and holes in said plastics..and there is lots of them including the now unused air intake grill and seat belt holes, installed silencer on muffler, installed rear windshield, moved CVT intake outside cab and installed doors. I can at least now talk to my passenger now without yelling and don't feel completely deaf after a ride. Still looking for more though.

Thanks NMK you seem to be the main man on here. I will be trying whatever I can to make it a little quieter.

NMK I have watched a lot of your videos and know you use sound deadening material but what do you use to plug the holes and seat belt openings?

A while back I bought a queen-sized piece of 3" thick memory foam that ..well didn't work out. So.. I used it for lots of things ..even cut long 3x3" strips for between the hood and dash plastics to stop the hot air. I used extra chunks to stuff into all the cab holes like that and when done I just hit the tops with some flat black spray paint to blend it in.

I was wondering where I'd find black foam. I do have black spray paint. Thanks again.
