New guy from Indiana
« on: April 19, 2016, 07:16:01 AM »
Just wanted to post up and say "Hey".  I just bought a 2014 Z force 800ex but havnt gotten to go pick it up yet.  My brother has a 2016 Z force 800ex.  I also have a Yamaha Rhino that I have run out of things to do to LOL (built high compression motor, stage 3 Elka shocks, bead lock wheels, 5 point harnesses, power steering and everything else under the sun you can imagine).  Im sure i will be working on getting the Z force as fast as is can be also.  Ill put some pictures up of the Z force once i get it in, until then here is a picture of the Rhino.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.  Yeah i have pretty much run out of things to do to the Rhino.  Its a great machine and I may hold onto it just to give my kids something to ride around on also/ a spare machine to play with for me LOL.  The only next thing I could have done to it is to stroke the motor and bring it up to a 720...but i was looking at a $3k bill to do that and realistically it wouldnt be worth any more after that is done.  The Rhino's short coming is really in the suspension though.  It rides great for small/medium bumps with those stage 3 Elka's.  But you jump it or try to hammer whoops and there just isnt enough travel there to take all the bump up without beating you to death.

I am 100% sure that I will not leave the Z force stock for more than a few min LOL.  I have a strong track record of working on them and making them do exactly what i want.  I will take pictures as I go and hopefully help everyone here if they decide to do those things also.

That's what we love to hear. One thing we've all experienced when looking for info on CF Moto is the general lack of information on everything about them. So as an owner of them, you are helping out the brand by providing valuable info on upgrading them.

Every 'how-to' thread is a Godsend to someone nervous about opening up their ride to upgrade it. For someone as mechanically challenged as myself, no 'how to' thread is too basic to help me out. I start small and work my way up, building my confidence with each successful mod, and offer thanks to every person who can provide that valuable resource to me and the next guy who is looking at buying a CF Moto.

Another one from Indiana - good to see and welcome.  I'm down in Evansville and ride Interlake quite a bit.  I've been aiming to get up to Redbird and ride here soon.

What dealership are you buying from?

Its not a dealership...My family has a body shop and we buy wrecked from auctions.  I saw one come up that has a blown rear tire and a a bit of body damage so i bought it.  Its out in St Louis,MO area right now but will be shipped in to me.  Here is a couple pictures of its current state.

I live about 30 miles south west of Indy and mostly ride on my own land (90 acres).  However I make trips out to ride from time to time (usually once or twice a year).  Next week im going to meet up with a bunch of guys I know to ride the "Outlaw" trails in WV (they are right with the Hatfield & McCoy trails).  The dunes picture of the Rhino is up in Silver Lake, Michigan dunes (about 7-8 hrs from me).  Maybe we could get together and ride some time.

Im not worried about it at all.  Even if it does have frame damage I have a frame table with 2 towers that will pull 20 tons each and welders.  I have done body work for ~20 years.  This will be a cake walk.

welcome to the board from another newbie!  I'm in the St. Louis area so this has me curious about your new toy.  I haven't seen another cfmoto out yet but i'm still new to this type of riding.  It looks like the one you got was driven on the road a lot where it was most likely rolled, judging by the tire wear.  I'd love to find one like that and tear into it!  Then it wouldn't be so stressful to get it done since it was a wreck to begin with.  Good luck on it, that time laps would be awesome to see!
