Hi folks,
New member from Canada.CFmoto 800xc 2020.
Was wondering about no engine braking on this cfmoto 800xc. Unfortunately, I did not verify this before buying figured most atvs had this.
Was a little surprised going downhill without any engine braking going on, guess I will be using a lot of discs?
Next question? is it or has anybody switched the front brake lever to the left?.
Thank you for your time.
Jim

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new machine.  I have a 2019 and mine has engine braking.  I have not looked into changing the brake lever over.  I still have some trouble remembering that the foot brake is for all 4.

I also have a 2019 800 XC and it definitely has engine braking.

Were you at a dead stop or very slow speed before going down hill?  The system will "free wheel" at a very low RPM.  Try just bumping the throttle a bit going down hill, if the 2020 system is the same as the 2019 system you will feel the engine breaking "bite" in with just a small bump of the throttle.  Once engaged and up to the required RPM you should be able to fully release the throttle and feel the resistance all the way down the hill.

Thanks 30Carbine
Was out a few more times with it  an figured out the little bump on the throttle. Just very different from my ole 650 kawa. A part from the squeaky brakes and the completely useless emergency brake over the throttle, so far so good. Will miss the  sealed drum brake this winter.
Thank you for your reply.
