New CfMoto Touring 1000 owner!
« on: August 10, 2024, 10:21:38 PM »
Picked it up today. Can't wait to hit the trail with it and have some fun! Bought it mostly to be a hunting rig but also do some work on the property I lease. Plan to do some trail riding with it in most likely Florida but not against taking it out of state and putting some miles on it.

Before this I have owned multiple motorcycles, four wheelers, three wheelers and most recently purchased a SxS for my father. We use it in PA mostly for hunting and he uses it for some yard work.

Here is my new girl. Even took one of my accountants (one of my best friends) with me and he ended up buying a 2024 Overland 1000.  He is also on the hunting lease.

I went with the camo and he went with the green. They sold the last tan one or I think he'd have gone for that but both machines are awesome. I believe he is getting a 2nd seat for his girl and some rifle holders for the front. I am going with bumpers front and rear and the rifle holder for the front. They should be a hoot! :)

Just an update on this. I have about 130 miles on the machine and so far so good. A few things I noticed.

1. It doesn't always kick out of 4wd to 2wd immediately. Sometimes I have to blip the throttle to get it to disengage.

2. Sometimes it clunks going into high gear. If you don't take a few seconds to allow it to fully engage and again, blip the throttle a few times, it will make some squeal noises or clunks on take off. It did this once but I now blip the throttle a few times every time.

3. The synthetic winch sucks. Sorry, it does. The cord gets sticky if it gets wet and will wrap itself around and go "in" when hitting the "out" button. My winch cable also broke so maybe a defective one.

4. Rear bumper went on like nothing, the front? I've never seen something so misaligned in all my life. Hours were spent and one of the cheap ass bolts included in the kit broke. After finally getting them on I am happy with them.

5. The NORMAL mode is fine but top speed seems very low for that mode or at least acceleration on the top end seems terrible. I haven't wound it out yet and won't till I have my 20 hour service.

6. Brakes work fine under normal driving and seem to do alright as speeds increase. What I do not like is the noise coming from the right side when slowing quickly from higher speeds. Noticed others do it too online when they slam the brakes at higher speeds coming to a stop.

7. Suspension is "meh". I have left it at the stock setting to see if it gets softer, and it has. That being said I need to take some time to soften it with the adjustments. It's quite jarring on some bumps at a moderate pace. I've had worse but this is harsh.

The majority of the miles are 6-7 at a time riding trails to get to the hunting property and it does great. It's been in some hairy places between mud, some water (nothing too high), over some small trees, wooded areas. It's an awesome machine and can't be much happier.

My friends 2024 CForce Overlander 1k has been great but he has less than half the miles I do. But that thing is also a beast. Another guy I hunt with liked mine so much he purchased a left over 2023 CForce 600 Touring. That machine is a rock. The winch failed but other than that it's been awesome. Goes where mine does other than over a larger log. It's got plenty of power and rides very nice. All three feel extra stiff but plan to soften up the ride a bit and see how that does.

I will continue to keep this thread updated.

Don't know if the Normal/Sport mode is the same on the Touring 1000 as it is on the Gen2 Trail 800, but it seems backwards to me.  According to the manual on my Trail 800 it seems the Sport mode should be used most of the time (on trails and such) and Normal mode is to be used when traveling on highways.  From the way I read it the Sport mode gives better throttle response.

Well, she goes in for her first service this next week. I plan to put quite a few miles on this machine through the hunting season so want it in tip top shape.

I plan to add the fun scabbard as well as the rear box for storage. Sick ofr tying to tie junk down. The CFMoto gun racks are "ok" but the bands broke after minimal usage. They are cheap so no big deal. It makes a better chainsaw holder than a rifle holder. Hah As you can see already a couple hundred miles and about 25 hours. I was super easy on it the first ten but then started to ride it a little harder but nothing too hard. I also did soften the suspension and it seemed to do what the adjustments said it would. Not sure why some people say the shocks are junk. I don't think they are probably too of the line but they don't seem too bad.

Got the machine back. Fluids changed, everything greased, belt was good, valves in spec, she's ready to ride!

Will be putting some miles on it next week/weekend. Probably another 80 or so depending on if I do may night hunting for pigs
