New 950 owner in Pa
« on: November 18, 2021, 12:47:35 PM »
Hello all.  Went to look at a new 950 today after waiting a couple months for one to become available.  Decided to pull the trigger.  Going to pick it up / sign the papers tomorrow or Saturday.  I'm pretty excited.  I've had / have all the other toys.  Sports cars, jeeps, bikes, camper, etc.  This is my first side by side though.  Gonna be fairly stock for now, but I'd like to investigate some wheels and tires in the future, and possibly see if there is any good tuning capabilities with this platform.  If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks all for having me.  I'm anxious to learn about my machine, and learn more about all of you and your builds.  I'll attach some pictures after I pick it up./

If anybody follows the 950 facebook group, then you probably already know how my first couple days went.  Picked it up on Friday, put a couple miles on around town on the weekend, and Sunday found a puddle of oil under it.  Pulled the belly pan, tightened the fairly loose clamps on the oil line, cleaned everything up and warmed it up.  No noticeable leaks after that, but I'm going to continue to monitor it for a while.  I'm hoping it's just a careless tech or a loose clamp.

CFMoto is known to leave many things loose at the factory. There has been no specific items as it's all over but we always suggest checking all suspension, steering and component-related (Motor and diffs) bolts and mounts first. Looks like clamps and case bolts should probably be added to that list. Maybe we should just say "If it can be tightened, check it" :)

Good advice, thank you.  I'm not nuts about other guys doing my work if I can help it.  Of course the dealer is adamite that they "check" everything for you, and charge you for it as part of their setup fee.  I'm just not sure if they made more hassle for me or not.  I could question them, but I know how that would go also.  Other than that, everything else has been good so far.  Does seem to be a little play in the front, upper a arm bushings which I'm not thrilled with.  I would expect that to be tight on a brand new machine, an upgrade might be in order there.

Make damn-sure that bolt's tight and torqued. Mount holes getting egged-out from loose stuff like that is very common...and the movement looks like bushings...but it isn't. And trust that a dealer did as little as possible to get that unit out the door. Do the inspection yourself.

Will do!  Thanks again.

I have noticed a few loose bolts here and there.    Typical Chinese quality control.

I’m not sure but I would suggest taking it to the dealer and let them file warranty for tightening up the bolts.

Once the warranty department starts seeing a bunch of claims then they would submit to the factory more quality control.

But what did I do.  Just go and retighten everything.

As the owner on record, you are the primary care-giver...so yeah, maintenance is your responsibility. Weather you do it or pay someone else to..it's all on you.

Little update.  I tightened everything else up over the weekend that I could think of.  Honestly, no other issues there.  No more oil leaks that I have found.  Set all the suspension rebounds / compressions.  They were all over the map.  Then I pulled all the warning stickers all over the cabin.  I hate having extra stickers / graphics on vehicles.  Did a quick wipedown with "ceramic" spray.  Parked it in the corner of the garage.

I thought about bringing it up to the dealer, and if it was more severe I probably would.  Luckily, I think I was able to handle it.  If I lived in the same town as the dealer and not an hour away, that may have made a difference too.

Congratulations on your purchase and living in a truly awesome and beautiful part of this country.  I ride your area with my son and have since he was little .   We have done Coudersport/Susquehannock , Whiskey Springs, Bloody Skillet, SSRTA.. Further west AOAA, Lost Trails and NWORC.   Lately though we have been focusing closer to home in NE PA , North of Scranton.   It is half the drive for us and gives us more trail time.  This upcoming season I plan on returning to Susquehannock with the new ZForce 950.

I sold all three of our Suzukis (Two King Quad 750’s and a Vinson) and ordered my 2022 ZForce 950 . I  hope it will be in by the start of the season (Mid April).  Maybe a few weeks before would be nice , so I can bolt up all the goodies and go over all the potentially loose bolts.  Thanks for the heads up on that.

Enjoy the machine!
