New 2020 500 Trail - Canada
« on: September 11, 2020, 12:32:49 PM »
Well, was out of the ATV scene for a little while, looks like I'm jumping back in.  Funny, was reading some posts while I was looking for info before buying and there's that NMKawirider guy.  I remember him (you) being a huge contributor over on whatever the Brute Force forum was called..I had a 2010 650i.
Anyway, was hesitant on buying a CFMoto, only because of the rep they have as off-brand, cheap, etc.  But, we have a dealer here that everyone raves about that's been selling them for 7 years, and from the hours and hours of research I've done, they've come a long way...and when I see a video from a few years ago and a complaint was brought up, I was really surprised how many of them have been addressed and resolved in the 2020's and 2021's.
Anyway...my white 2020 ZForce 500 Trail now has a sold sign on it, and will be picked up later today or tomorrow morning.
Turns out the Mrs was sad when I sold the BF, and misses getting out.  Happy wife, happy life...guess I have to buy a buggy...gee darn.
I started shopping with Polaris and CanAm 2-up quads, then started getting swayed over to CFMoto because they're a little cheaper, have a great dealer close by, and also because they come with everything (base) that you have to jump to the more expensive model to get with other brands.  And, all stuff I'd add anyway (winch, handguards, etc).
We sat on a CForce 800 touring (they didn't have the 600 that we'd been interested in), and I had previously said, "If I can feel you against me while I'm riding, I'm not doing it."  It just makes for too long of a day if we're not both comfortable and being forced to change our sitting spot to accommodate having both of us on there.  Sitting on the 800 in our shorts and t-shirts it already felt just a bit to close for comfort.  Then, in a few months it'll be -30c and we'll be even more....fluffy...in our heavy winter gear.  Looked over to the left and saw the 500 ZForce and asked for a quote. $100 more than the 600.   Sold!   I was comfy, mama was comfy, and lots of room in the box to drag along all our crap.
Looking forward to tomorrow!

Welcome. It's a small world..lol. Most be either Brute Central or Kawieriders...or MIMB. I'm a Mod on all and have been there a long time. Joined this one when I bought my ZForce Trail (53) back in 2015. Still enjoying it. Just some things to do to make your ownership a better one- right off take the time to go through all the component mounts (engine and diffs) and all suspension & steering-related bolts and nuts and make sure they are tightened to spec..plus 5..meaning either ftlbs or inlbs depending on the spec. Then make absolute sure you get a Unifilter air filter on it before you ride in any dust cause the OE filters let lots of trash by...always have. Lastly, we/I recommend you give it one oil and filter change half way between now and it's scheduled first change.

Congrats on the new Z. Take care of it and it will always bring you home...just like the Brute. :)

I want to say it was Kawiriders...but I'm old, so who knows.
That Brute got fresh oil (engine, and both diffs) about every 1000kms, or after an especially wet or muddy ride. Oil's cheaper than parts.  :-)
I'll give the VForce the same over-the-top maintenance that all my stuff gets.  I just sold a guy my DR650, he asked when the last oil change was done.  I handed him the printout from Autosist (love that app)..we figured it out quickly and laughed....I'd put 6000kms on it since I owned it..and it had 6 oil changes.  :p

I asked the sales guy if they'd fixed the air filter issue that people had complained about with previous years...(he's not your typical shirt and tie salesman that just tells you what he thinks you want to hear) and he said it (they) now have a 2-stage foam filter on them "Those old paper filters were crap..everybody put Uni filters on them but the ones they have now are just as good". I assume they're oiled because he said "We have the oil for them here, if you ever need any."  But knowing me I'll have the airbox apart by the end of the first day I own it....I'll let you know what I find in there.

Not sure if that's a Canadian model thing or what...I know there's some differences vs the US models.  Like that carb primer plunger that I had on my 2010 650i that everybody said didn't exist...hehe...only in Canada, ehh?
