Hi everybody. I just bought a new ZForce 800EX EPS a few weeks ago. I'm new to CF Moto, but I've been riding ATVs for about 25 years. I look forward to learning about my new ride and helping others with my years of experience. I've tried to upload pics, but I can't seem to have any luck.

Welcome. I had problems with uploading  pictures too. I use an app that reduces the size and compresses the picture. I go 25% size then compress it. Works slick.

Hey there....welcome to the madness!  Hope you get the pic thing figured out.  I too am a newbie. Had mine (2015 Z - 53") only a month. I had to tighten almost every bolt, clamp and nut I could get at. Have about 250 (s)miles nothing major to mention. Clearance is a problem, also l don't have the mud guards that yours has...major muddy inconvenience with my unit >:( but,  you can get a lift kit at least. :)

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

I've had mine about a month and a half or so. It has a little over 330 miles.

I'll try to figure out the pics. I'm not a computer guy, so it takes me a while.

I still get pretty muddy even with the fender flares since the tires stick out farther on the EX. It'll get worse when I'm finished. I plan on adding some big mud tires. I'll probably start by taking my 30" Monster Mayhems off of my Grizzly and putting on it until I come up with money for more tires. If it handles those well and has room, I'd like to try 32" Mammoth Mayhems.
I plan to make my own lift kit. I don't like the spring spacer lift. It does the same thing as cranking up the preload, but cost almost $200. I want a soft ride, so I'll make a bracket lift and soften the preload.

Only problems so far, the throttle sticks a little and the power steering bracket came loose on the trail. I tightened it up and kept going. I did have the coolant leak every one else seems to have. I've been adding Prestone and it seems to be getting better.

Some of us have been trying to find the clutch setup best suited for the different ways we ride and of course the model. If you go with the big tires, you may not be too happy with it until you set your clutches for them. There is some good info here. The brand is still new to us and some trial and error  is going to happen.

You will not want to lift anymore then 3", the front cvcups are very short, you will find that the shaft will keep walking out of the cup. You can correct this with steering stops , but your turning radius will goto shit.
Any tires over 27" you may want to jack the secondary clutch(driven) to B2, don't go past B3, anymore than that and your asking for belt issues.
Leave your primary clutch alone, We have tried with the DR.pulley weights and no real change, truthfully they are sitting on the shelf.
Your gonna need to lengthen your diff breather tubs or reroute them.
You 100% will need to snorkel  your unit, the Clutch exit tube will cross paths with  your exhaust. Use hi temp pipe or goto Aluminum pipe.
Relocation of the air box is also good insurance . I went to a ump filter box . works great.
People my question this but a LITTLE bars leak stops the coolant problem dead. The 800 likes to burp. You will see a burp line on the new engines, coming off the water pump.
The stock tie rods are hollow, you may want to look at some upgraded one. Big tires = Big stress.
And most of all have fun get it dirty.

Thanks for the advise.

I do plan to snorkel. I've already raised the CVT exhaust duct a little higher, but not snorkeled yet.

I planned to lift somewhere but between 2 and 4 inches, but I'll keep the 3" limit in mind. I only need about 2", but I plan to lower the preload all the way down to smooth the ride in the woods. That'll lower the ground clearance a little. 3" maybe just right.

I'll try to adjust the secondary before I mess with the primary. If I can keep the 25g weights, that'll give me more bite on the belt than lighter weights. I'll just have to see what works.

What kind of belt issues would I have if I go past B3?

Lifespan will be the belt issue.
Leave the primary alone, 25g are perfect. You will need a better backshift if your mudding with big shoes. This the job of the secondary.
Build you own bracket lift, very easy. It's not 1:1 . Also ball joints will be maxed before you get much over 3"
I don't recommend the spring spacers. Sorry Super Atv.
Get dirty have fun

Almost forgot, grab a hole saw and put some better drain holes in. 3/4 work perfect.

I talked to the mechanic at the local dealership yesterday. He said the opposite. He said leave the spring alone and use lighter weights. He said stiffening the spring would work the weights to hard and melt the covers. I think he meant flat spotting, not actually melting. I think I'll just start messing around with it until I find what works. I'll start with the spring and see where that gets me, then try weights if I feel I need to. If I keep the 25g weights, that'll give me more bite on the belt than lighter weights. Once I get the shift out right, then I'll try adding a shim to the primary to lower the gearing.

Wow...all you guys sound like techies! I'm as dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to clutching and snorkels and tires, OH MY! :-\ :D

If you want to learn about clutching, check out grizzlycentral.com. It's a Yamaha Grizzly forum, that I belong to. They have lots of threads about clutching. The Yamaha Ultramatic is very similar to CF Moto's CVT. The main differences are that the Yamahas use grease for the rollers and the secondary spring has no adjustment. You have to change springs on the Ultramatic. There are also videos on youtube about CVT setups.
