Hey all, just picked up a '14 U800 with a bad crank (lower rod bearing).. looking to get it back in service to have some fun..

Saw some posts about bearings etc... one in particular about using Toyota bearings which allows
the crank to be ground... unfortunately the picture .jpg wont open!

Anyone have experience in this? an can lead me in the right direction???

thx. W

The only one that I know of that did it had oil pressure issues later. I suggest you just bite the bullet and get a new crank, rods and the standard bearings for it along with the rest of the rebuild kit/parts.

Just using the standard factory bits will probably work out cheaper than all the machine work and labour required to reclaim the used/abused bits.

Thx. I appreciate the opinion,

I've measured the crank and other than the rod journals its fine... CVTech is close to me and can
do the work easily.. I'm sure i can find other places to spend the extra money..

If I'm wrong i'll have to spend the $$ on a crank. and take the time hit.

I was able to cross the bearing to a Toyota application with std./.25/.5/.75/1.0 oversizes availible
so in principle, I buy the bearings .. send them, the crank, and rods to CVtech and they will
make it work.

Stay tuned..

I'm sure CVTech can identify & source the bearings? I was investigating resurrecting a puked 2013 Terralander 800 & spoke with the CVTech distributor in Edmonton & the had ability to identify/source rod bearings that would work.

The show stopper with this rebuild was the crankcases, the 2013 cases did not have wear pads in the CC's. The crank end play was the Aluminum cases & those areas were damaged.....hopefully your model year was updated.

Actually.. CVTech in Quebec now said they can't do it.. They politely said they don't touch
the CFMoto forged Cranks..

At present a local source (in Toronto) will regrind the crank for $120 and if the rods need to be re-sized $25 ea..

Another option is the get the journal Chromed, then ground back to stock (std) and use
the CFMoto bearings I was given.

Will double check on the crank thrust zone... thx
