Brake switch needed to start cf moto400
« on: January 08, 2022, 07:13:45 PM »
I have a cfmoto 400 and I have always stepped on the foot brake to start it. It has been acting up. Now it will not not even turn over. The battery is good but I suspect there is a safety switch that has gone bad. Am I correct in my thinking?? What is the official name of this part?? How do Igo about getting this part and then insatlling it?? Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Jon

Without looking at the wiring diagram I will assume it's like most others in that there are either one or two interlock relays. These relays when closed provide..or rather complete the starter circuit. One for the brake so you can start it in any gear by applying either brake enough to activate the brake light. The other for Neutral and/or Park. The Chinese may have another name for then but everyone else calls then interlock relays. Try to start it in Neutral..make sure the Neutral light is on. Also make sure the kill switch is in the run position and working.

Check the kill switch.
Check the signal wire at the starter solenoid with ignition on start.
Jump to solenoid to verify the starter turns over.
