Anti freeze
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:44:38 PM »
I just purchased a 400 and use it only for plowing a short driveway ..It has been very cold here lately ( -20f )
And I noticed a small puddle of anti freeze under the unit.
The Dealer said that this is normal , considering how cold it has been —anybody have thoughts on this ?
Unit has 2.1 miles on it

Seems that CFM has an issue with their mechanical seal manufacturer. Many of them leak at the start but quit before 200 miles...others don't and have to be replaced. Keep the recovery bottle full..in fact over-fill it to ensure it never sucks air. If it doesn't quit soon, have your dealer replace it.

One interesting note-mine like many others also leaked but after I topped the radiator off with a quality coolant.."Peak Green", it stopped almost immediately. I have sense changed-out all the coolant to Peak because in 2014-2015 there was an issue with CFM's coolant jelling, and so far..no leaks.

I suggest changing out the coolant for a better known brand (and make it a bit stronger will help) or even going to waterless coolant. This gives the seal more lubrication during the running in period and helps to stop the leak.

Like others mine leaked until about mile 200.  Haven't had a drop since.  The clock reads about 2000 miles now.  I also drained the CFMoto coolant when I noticed jelly like chunks in it.  I now have universal orange in it.

turns out the water pump blew out . Dealer picked up and returned it after 5 days (and two snow storms) lol
All covered of course .. hope this is the end of it ... unit has under 5 miles on it
