Alternative Parts / Re: 2023 Zforce 800 trail side mirrors
« on: May 04, 2024, 07:54:16 AM »
Found these on Amazon and they fit nicely on my 2023 Zforce Trail 800.  Much better range of adjustment than the CFMoto side mirrors.

Don't use the park on the transmission since it could hang-up, far as I'm concerned they can leave it off.

Agree with that - with or without the Parking Brake installed.  The manual even indicates that the transmission should not be placed in Park when trailing as it could damage the transmission.  GF forgot my warning about not putting it in Park unless it was on level ground once and we had to use the winch to take enough pressure off the transmission to get it out of Park.

I wonder if they have a lot more range for adjustment then the CFMoto mirrors have.  With the CFMoto mirrors no matter how I mount them I can't seem to get them positioned to where I'd like for good viewing without them looking like they were hit by something and just dangling on the side.

Was this like a recall effort by cfmoto to fix the high chance of gear linkage snapping during an incline park? Rather was the cost to you zero dollars? Asking for myself and a friend.

It's not a Safety related recall, it's classified as a "Customer Satisfaction" issue being performed at no cost to the customer under their Warranty program.  All unsold units are being upgraded prior to sale; any sold unit is eligible for the upgrade at the customer's request. The time period for having all units upgraded runs thru the end of 2024, so if a customer doesn't request it by then they'll probably have to pay to have it done after that.

For those still waiting for notice from CFMoto for the parking brake upgrade or running into the issue where their dealer isn't aware of the issue or can't proceed without CFMoto authorization, here's what I found out:

Dealers check the CFMoto database using the VIN number to see if the warranty issue has been authorized by CFMoto, and without that they can't get reimbursed for doing the upgrade.  CFMoto says all known affected VINs have been updated in their database, but they are also aware that there are many VINs which should have been updated which aren't.  If you call their Customer Service they don't have a way to update the database for you. What you have to do is have your dealer call their Warranty Dept to get things straightened out.  Unless the dealer is very familiar with CFMoto procedures and with this upgrade in particular, they may require that the UTV be brought in so they can verify things and take photos to communicate the issue with CFMoto Warranty though.  It appears most dealers however are now aware of this upgrade and many will go ahead and order the parts and get the upgrade started then deal with CFMoto Warranty.  So YMMV.

ZForce 950/1000 Sport & EX / Re: Has anybody seen this...

Just talked with someone in Customer Service at CFMoto.  All the VINs (that they know about) have been entered into their database that the Dealers access.  But there are a number of VINs that were missed and have not been entered.  If your VIN is one of them you need to have your Dealer contact their Warranty Dept to have it entered.

Update:  Just got back from talking to the Service Manager at the local dealership.  He was familiar with the Parking Brake mod and knew from my records with them that my UTV was covered, so he's ordering the parts and will let me know when to bring it in for the upgrade.  Not sure if it helped but their customer records with me show a history of 20+ years of them servicing my various motorcycles and now my Zforce.

ZForce 950/1000 Sport & EX / Re: Canadian turn signal harness?
« on: April 04, 2024, 05:30:22 PM »
Guys, the Gen2 Zforce 950 Trail and Sport use the same setups as the Gen2 Zforce Trail 800.  I did a writeup on putting turn signals on the 800 that's in the How To section.  I don't know about the 950 HO, but the Service Manual for the 800 covers the 950 Trail and Sport - no mention of the HO.

Basically the rear turn signals are activated by switching a plug behind the right rear quarter panel.  In the US version the backup lights are wired; in the Canadian version the backup lights are used for rear turn signals. There are two plugs in the right rear quarter panel, one for the backup lights and one for the turn signals.  There's only one plug on the tail light assemblies though, so you need to disconnect the backup light plug from it and plug in the turn signal plug.

Contacted two dealers in my area and neither knew anything about this.  Tried contacting Customer Support at CFMoto and got no response.

The dealer I spoke with a week or so ago was unaware of the parking brake install program and told me that until the CFMoto database is updated showing my Gen2 (or any of the stock they have on the floor) needs the upgrade, there's nothing they can do. Apparently on warranty issues like this CFMoto attaches the need for the update to the VIN number in their database which is what the dealers access. Even though I had the park numbers he was unable to even place them on order.

I suspect CFMoto is controlling the roll-out of the updates so that demand doesn't over-run their ability to supply the necessary parts.  The upgrade program runs thru the end of the calendar year though, so I guess we still have a lot of time to get it done.

UForce 1000 / Re: Uforce 1000 headliner
« on: March 04, 2024, 01:19:27 PM »
I had the same problem trying to find something like that for my Zforce 800 Gen2 Trail.  Ended up finding something which had the right dimensions and had storage pockets that I liked but without any way to mount it.  I built a mounting bracket out of some metal conduit that I attached to the mount points in the roof and was able to attach the headliner storage to it.

Just a thought, but make sure you don't have any loose connections. Those CFMoto connectors can be a bear to get together and even harder to get apart.  Also, verify that all the other lights, switches and electrical stuff works - especially head lights, brake lights and possibly backup lights.  You might have blown a fuse on some circuit that affects the lights - if you haven't done the wire connection swap in the right rear quarter panel you should have backup lights as well as brake lights.  Not sure if you'll have turn signal indicator lights on the dash if the turn signals aren't working, but it's worth checking.   If everything is working you will have indicator lights on the dash for the turn signals and hazard lights.  Good luck, and wish I was headed out to the BLM trails with you!

Just verified this morning, with the Hazard switch removed/disconnected the turn signals still work as expected.

I believe the turn signals should work without the hazard switch installed, but the wiring diagrams aren't that detailed.  (When I installed turn signals on my previous Honda UTV I had to build my own wire harness and I had them working with or without the hazard switch, but no telling what CFMoto might have done in their wiring.)  You should at least have the turn signals working on the front if you used the CFmoto parts.  The rear signals require swapping the wire connectors behind the right rear quarter panel though.  I'll see if I can pull my hazard switch and verify that the turn signals still work unless you find something in your efforts.

Just got back from talking to my dealer about this and according to him until CFMoto attaches the Warranty notice to my VIN they can't do anything.  We looked up my VIN on the CFMoto database and it doesn't have this notice tagged.  We also queried all the ZForce 800 and 950's they had in stock to see if any of them were tagged and they weren't either.  We suspect CFMoto is only tagging VINs when they have the parts ready to ship, so it make take them a few months to get all the upgradeable units tagged for this Warranty upgrade.

I think you said earlier that you'd purchased an aftermarket turn signal kit.  Did you use the flasher module from that kit or did you get the CFMoto Flasher?  Not all flasher modules are the same and an aftermarket one may not work.  And there are different CFMoto Flasher part numbers, one for the Gen1 (2022 and earlier) and one for the Gen2 (2023).  The part number in my writeup is for the Gen2 (2023).

Also, did you just remove the dust cover from the connector, or did you also do something like try to pry out the yellow plastic?  You should have ONLY removed the dust cover.
