Z & U Force Brake line Check
« on: May 03, 2016, 01:19:12 PM »
After several members reported a problem with the rear brake line...and mostly the Driver's side I decided to take a look. I see that the "I" end that is attached to the caliper is pointed up much farther then the passenger side and when I jacked it up, this position of the a-arm was pulling on the brake line. I pulled the tire, and with one hand on the line end and a 12mm end wrench on the bolt I loosened it just enough to rotate it to the same angle as the other side...maybe a hair more, then retightened it. No fluid was lost and no air got in as I didn't loosen it that much. I then saw that the little line support block was not in the wrong position to let it slide through easy  so I loosened it (10mm), found the best position for it and retightened the mount .

You guys might take a look at yours.

IDK but from what I see, they could have made the flex brake lines a little longer. Looks like they get a workout.

New line came in today. Gonna install it myself. Haven't seen the  new warranted line yet. Hopefully it's "updated" with a different bend or a bit longer flex line.       Rot.

I had the same problem and wound up buying the brake line from a cf parts dealer. The manufacturer wasn't willing to send  another line to my home address. It would have cost me more in gas and time to take the machine to the dealer. Just wasn't worth it. I can't refer Cf Moto to anyone with their less than satisfactory service. My dealer takes weeks to call you back. If you need any parts, go to alpha-sports.com. In my case, the dealer service and parts department is useless.

I noticed the same thing on the brake lines.  They are about 1-2" to short.

As far as the dealer issues some people have had.  I never buy a machine based off a warranty.  To me that is asking to be disappointed and also asking to have your machine sit while they look at it.  I buy a machine based off of its own merit.  Thats why to me the CF Moto was a gamble/trial.  I dont take machines to dealers.  I build it into what it needs to be to survive what I put it through.  I have also had GREAT success with Alpha Power sports and would recommend them to everyone.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

Me too. Just today on my first ride in my new machine!  What did you do to get it fixed?  Was it covered under warranty?

Yeah..warranty will cover it. Tell them at the shop there's a known issue with length and to adjust it so it doesn't pull on it. F'ers needed to make the lines just a little longer.

Thanks for the response NMK, I've enjoyed reading your posts and watching your videos.  I called the dealer I purchased it from and they said they wouldn't cover it under warranty because "the brake line would not hang low enough to catch anything".  A closer dealer said about the same thing but would be willing to look at it if I would bring it there and they might get to it in a week or so.....
Not too happy and I've just asked my dealer to order a new line and ship it to me.  I will be responsible for the cost.  It was literally my first ride with only 17 miles on the clock.  The good news is that it will force me to put a really good brake fluid in and bleed the brakes, which I've seen lots of posts about.
I just put on a full Rival skid plate set on yesterday and hopefully will prevent it from happing again.

Well..they should have covered it.. but that the way it goes sometimes. Do yourself a favor and pull the shock and tire when replacing it so you can move the suspension fully in both directions. That will help you position it so it won't pinch or run out of slack. If the other side needs turned or adjusted.. then would be a good time to do it.

I went to s synthetic DOT4 (I think dot4) brake fluid.
