I agree I would Neve use them for fenders or such item's I used them for the air intake and back cover behind the seat and the 4 in the console, cup holder cause I'm always fighting those when doing maintenance but yeah exterior panels not such a good idea I should have noted that in the original post.

I thought about ordering these last night and besides the possible extra damage they might cause it also looks like one more thing to rust, I just ordered 100 plastic pins from Amazon 20 minutes ago.

Yeah I believe they serve a purpose. Not for fender flares or body panels they use those plastic clips for a reason to break lol. But now on the back plate behind the seat and the shroud that covers the air intake in my opinion there great 6 8 screws and it off and it can come of on the trail or ride I have a 2014 800 ex and that little 4in by 4in door they put in to check the oil just don't cut it for me so I always pull those panels out plus I like inspecting what I can to try to catch problems early on.  I just found them easily installed and removed better than the clips. Cause we all know those don't last.

I work for Fastenal, and we do carry them. They are called "Jack Nuts" But I agree with Chuddly, These are meant to be break away pieces. Id rather replace a few of these rather than a body panel. They do work great if you are planning to secure them a little more permanently.

I have to admit that the silver look would look great on my ride, but not worth ripping a panel off and having to replace it.
the last time I flipped my u800 it cost me less than $20 for a couple tins of paint and a pack of plastic clips. besides the scratches, the fenders were fine. just clipped back in as the clips did their job and gave way.

If someone wants the convenience of a driver removable screw and still retain the break-away capability then well nuts can be am answer.
