Ok, so I was annoyed that the winch doesn't come with a rocker switch for the dash.  Ordered one of those.  I started doing some teardown on the machine to get at the wiring, which looks like I can do easily enough.  Take off the hood, and the basket underneath it and can see the wiring for the handheld winch control.  Can splice wiring in there.  Can get to the underside of the switch area on the dash real easy.  It bothers me that I can't find a simple way to get at the winch contacter.  Anybody done this?  Anybody had the glove box off?

Why? It's probably got different connections then we are used to seeing anyway. Just splice into the remote cable. That what I did with my wireless remote. I can still use the cabled remote too.

Why?  Cause I can't help myself.  I need to see how it works!!!

Anyway, just curious to see how far anybody has taken the dash apart and if they have any thoughts/suggestions.

I've had the dash off many times, what are you needing to know. I don't really have any suggestion for removing front cover, just mark all your connections till your familial with there mate.Pretty straight forward.
If just to attach a wireless winch controller , I'd suggest just to jump the wires coming off the winch solenoid or from the leads from hand controller.

Thanks.  I'm just wanting to know what needs to come off to get the right side glove box out.  I felt and looked all around and didn't see/feel a single mounting point.  Does the dash top panel have to come off?  If so, I probably wouldn't mess with it.

I remember looking at mine when I wanted to get to the relays easier looking at the glove box mount. As I recall there is two retainers or screws to get to from the inside top and one that goes through the firewall you can see from the passenger-side wheel well. Never took it out so can't confirm.

You will have to lift the front cover plastic enough to remove a couple 8mm or 10mm nuts from the top and a screw on the firewall. Stupid design, thank the Ozzie for that.

Well I looked at that sucker again, and I still don't see the mounting points.  NOt sure I'm going to mess with it.

My winch rocker switch did come in today.  Not illuminated, but it's a pretty close match to the OE switches.

Ya know, I have two light bars laying around but I think the stock lights on the Zforce are pretty damn good.  Maybe I'll add a back-up light.

We almost never do any night riding so mine are really there just for looks but...on the last camp-out I did flip them on just to see how they were and I was surprised as to how much better just that 24" made it to see over the stock lights...and how great having that 7" on back will be for loading the wood trailer in the dark.

Ordered a wireless from Amazon and did the install last weekend. Took me about 45 minutes, only because the wiring diagram colors were backwards. Easy and functional upgrade. Two thumbs up!! No more having to get out and put away the cable.

NMK...definitely going to install one of these...do most users prefer the metal cable (which can fray) or prefer the synthetic (eg. DEVIL'S WIRE) for long lasting use. Interested in all opinions...thanks guys
