Hey everyone
I have been reading a lot in here about the need to replace the stock air filter 2015 (800 trail) Brand new leftover
I got the part number off of here and just went to install it.
My issue is the diameter of the new filter hole is larger then the stock hole, so it mates directly to the housing of the filter box, (will not insert) actually the 2 filters can insert into each other. as seen in the picture, So my question is... Do I need to order a smaller size Uni filter or am I supposed to take off the mounting piece in the filter box? As seen in the picture and connect the UNI to whatever is behind that box?

Supposed to use the plastic piece. The 2.25" should actually feel small and have to stretch a bit over cause the pipe is 58mm which converts to 2.28". Also as I remember, that that pipe has slightly different ends..a extra lip or something.. so be sure to put the side back into the housing that was. there. 

Just to be clear, the plastic piece that is inside the box in the picture, or the plastic piece that is attached to the original filter?

The plastic piece that connects the original filter to the box...you have it between the two filters in one photo. That stays and the Uni installs over it like the original one did.

Silly question with the UniFilters. Are you supposed to oil both the red outer filter and the gray inner filter? I've never used a filter like this before. I oiled both before I installed today.

Yes, oil both.

I thought so and did, but couldn't find anything about if the inner was supposed to be oiled or not. Thanks!

I think I saw something that said oil the outside for dry conditions and both for wet. Probably best to oil both anyway.

I am having trouble getting the plastic piece (adapter) to fit into the Uni filter.  Keeps sliding out.  Any suggestions on how t make the plastic sleeve from the OEM filter and the uni filter fit better or fit at all for my case.  Having trouble.

Corrected:

The adaptor or sleeve has a small lip on one side. When I was using using the TwinAir filter and that lip goes on the filter side. DON'T USE TwinAir! Also, make sure no filter oil is on the filter neck or the sleeve. They say it can cause it to slip off.

Has anone istalled one of these filters on an atv? Im guessing the uforce 500 or 8p0 may be the same ilters as the atv since they share engines?

The same filter from u8 z8 fits the 500 and 400
the 500 classic uses a different filter
