Removing break pads
« on: August 27, 2020, 09:14:28 AM »
Does anyone know of a video that shows removing/replacing break pads for a ZForce?  If you do, please post link.  If no video, and you know how to do it, if you have time, please type me some instructions.  I, like all of us, have breaks that squeal.  I'd like to pull the pads, bevel the edges and apply CRC Disk Break Quiet to the backs, but I can't figure out how to remove the pads from the caliper.  It looks like the pads could be held into place by both bolts and clips, but I'm afraid to just start torking.

The 2018+ has a new design but I'm pretty sure the caliper removal is about the same. There is two bolts, probably allen-headed, to remove and it slips out of the bracket. You probably will also want to remove the one brake line retainer clamp that is on the a-arm to give it enough slack.

Now I wish I had done a video on that when I did mine. Hay while there check that the slides are not seized-up. All mine were and it was new. They were like someone poured salt water into them.

Breaks are done.  Thanks to NMK for the guidance because without his instruction my Z8 would still be in the air.  Hopefully tomorrow I'll find out if the application worked.

It should. I replaced all pad with the softer EBCs, chamfered all edge, freed all seized slides and used the red Disk Brake Quiet and have not had any squeaking brakes sense. And...it stops now when I hit the brakes...unlike before.

Just got back from a quick stop and go ride and no brake noise.  Thanks again.
