Rear brush guard bolts snapped!
« on: August 23, 2015, 07:25:40 PM »
I was out yesterday and realized my brush guard was hanging down! :-[ The two upper bolts are chinese crap quality bolts and sheared off. The spacer between the guard and upper connection point is a POS!  Have an appointment on Thursday to have a couple of things looked at an adjusted. I certainly hope this is just a fluke and not a picture of future things that may happen? >:(

Here you go! This is a two part system, the threaded piece that is sheared off, screws in the bike tubing and the other end is bolted on through the bush guard itself!

I've got the same rear brush guard.  Did you hit anything?  Or drop the rear end hard in any ruts that would've made the brush guard support the weight of the machine?

Nope...was going down a trail and a guy stopped and said that my brush guard was hanging off the back. It was only held on by the two bottom bolts.

Those bolts look way too small for a bumper. I plan to build my own bumpers. I'm going to look for a better way to bolt them on.

I did, I used a threaded collar for a spacer and a real 2.5" bolt with a locking nut on it. I chiseled off that wimpy nut that was held on with a dot of weld. It was a very tight spot to get a wrench on it to hold to tighten the bolt, but I don't think I will ever have to worry about having to take it off again anyway!  :D
