One Z8 Air Intake Option
« on: August 25, 2015, 05:58:26 PM »
Jason wanted to see how this was done so while apart on other things I did a little video on it. Just an option.

NOTE: This Mod is not recommended for anyone that will be in situations that fill or cover the bed in MUD or WATER!

UPDATE 8/25/15:

This is the heat shield and sound deadener :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BF2940E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

And this was the intake vent:

In a later How To Thread I convert this to accept a second mushroom-type airfilter

Here is the link to that upgrade:

Cool. Good luck. Take your time on marking the spot to drill. I wanted it in the center of that depression so that was easy. But getting the distance down from the top to line up on the pipe took a few readings. Not too bad though. If you look close at the video, you will see two marks I put on either side to lay a straight edge across. That one one down the center gives you kind of a cross-hair.

NMKawierider. I took your great idea one step further. Took two of the fresh air intake  mounted one as you suggested them mounted flange to flange with with other, one on ether side of rear wall then mounted a mushroom filter on back side. Also added uni filter, What a difference I was cleaning stock filter after every ride now  4 rides without having to clean.  I also have a 3 " silcon  90 degree tube used on turbo's with some pvc pipe so if needed i can have a snorkel with about 3 min of work. Thanks for your post helped a lot.

Great work! I may have to add the "stop" bracket to my shifter as well.  Mine over shoots Park sometimes as well.

I made so many changes sense then to now. I have moved it to the far right side where it will be snorkeled with an inline airfilter because of all the dust it gets. This mod was great for getting it out of that hot, dusty area but the back of the bed is still very dusty.

Yeah that park stop was simple and works great.

Here's a vid on the start of the latest intake(s) project. I'll do a write-up later.
