Making my aluminum A arm guards
« on: November 07, 2016, 08:09:52 AM »
This weekend I started making my aluminum A arm guards.  They are 1/8" thick and they are set up so they will both strengthen the A arms and protect the axle boots and brake lines from sticks and rocks.  I started off by building cardboard templates then transferring that to aluminum.  Then I bent them up (all by hand as I dont have a metal brake).  I didnt mount them yet as I want to get all new hardware to mount them but here are the pictures of the front ones that I made (I still have some finish work to do on them but you get the general idea).  I will likely make the rear ones next weekend.  It probably took me 3 or 4 hours to make the 2.  But in that time I made all 4 templates and once i figured out my bending process it probably only took me 10 min to bend the second one into shape after it was cut out.  I will update this thread when I get the rear ones done

I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

I'd take a look at SPOP's website for idea's as well. The skid plate and A-arm brackets I got from them are awesome. Also, very easy to install.
