Dang, Clark, no one does detail like you.  I have been pretty busy with winter up here in Idaho but spring is in the air and I am ordering my Carbon Fiber canisters to do the snorkel air filter thing.  I'm only going to run the one filter in the stack and eliminate the entire airbox.  I see you use a lot of silicon tubing.  That stuff is expensive. Any site that might be cheaper?

Thanks..you know it really was't all that bad on the wallet. I got all the silicone parts and the turbo tubing off ebay...as well as the cans. I think I mentioned it before but the filters that come with the cans suck..they let a lot of trash get by so if you are going to delete the airbox, you must have the best in there you can. I did a video...somewhere on hat I had to do to adapt one in there. I did leave the original filter in the CVT intake cause I wanted to be able to just blow or wash it out on the trail or campsite when needed...and glad I did..lol That thing gets packed fast. Also glad I put a helper fan in there. Helps me get back to camp sometimes before cleaning...and when I'm working the belt hard it also nice.

I have seen everything you have done on the intake and appreciate it.  I do plan to replace the filter that comes with it for a uni.  Then at the end I'll put another dry filter to be able to shake it out, blow it out or rinse it out to help keep the UNI clean.  I just hate going into the original air box to clean the filter, and with only one filter, its a must change after every ride.  Plus, the added height will help keep the intake above most of the dust.  Next will be the helper fan.  A real good add on for high desert trails.

Well, now, I only open the box to mostly re-oil the uni that's in there once a year. Even them I think to myself..why am I here?...lol. I just tell myself it's a second line of defense. My dad always said "Better to have too much..then not enough"

With that said, maybe I will start with the set up like you have and see if I can avoid going into the stock box.  If so, then all good.  If I seem I still need to change it out more often, then I will eliminate the air box and go with the canister and one more on top of that, maybe at the initial air entry point.

I found that as long as the first filter is doing it's job, and the airbox and other plumbing are sealed, really nothing gets to the second filter.

For sure you want to get that intake out from where it is and up higher into ...less dusty air. Then get another filter on it. And just clean it when necessary. Even my cans are easier to pop-off and clean the filters then that damn airbox. But people also just plant a filter on top of a snorkel.

Agreed, but I like the look of a smartly put together unit like yours.  I have seen too many really good designs stop at the mock up  and not go back and really clean it up and make it look factory done.  You, my friend, have excelled at making it look like the guys across the pond designed it that way.

Did i miss where to get those fans for the CVT cooling and how did you do the temp gauge in the CVT box ?

Yeah could you post a full list of materials required to copy your snorkel system? I have the snorkel your ATV warrior snorkel but it's a POS I had to reduce mine to as low a 1.25" to squeeze past a section of frame and since then I've had cvt and belt overheating issues. I'd like to redo the whole thing in 2.5" or 3" like yours for both the cvt inlet and outlet and the intake aswell. A list of required materials would be greatly appreciated, including where you got the snorkel tips

I have the snorkel your ATV warrior snorkel but it's a POS I had to reduce mine to as low a 1.25" to squeeze past a section of frame and since then I've had cvt and belt overheating issues. That would be a little tough now to do but I got all the stuff from ebay including the 2.5 & 3" turbo aluminum pipe, all the silicone 90s, 45s and straights, the can filters and the tips. You will have to slightly oval the 2.5" and 3" pipe to allow the plastics to lay flat but its slight and the silicone parts make that easy. Just build it as you go. Measure three times then cut it long and work down.

Seems that no matter what I do I still have the intakes in a cloud of dust as long as they are back there...anywhere. Exploring the possibility of ducting them to the front grill but in the meantime I am proceeding with an older line of thought which is installing a S&B particle separator. However it and all the plumbing costs are exceeding my budget at this time so I decided to do all the plumbing but for now plant a Donaldson prefilter/particle separator on where the S&B will go later. It requires no power, good for 170CFM but is only 75% efficient where the S&B is over 90%....and I'll have to manually dump it when it gets full. Being that it will be a little higher and in the center should help. Should cut 78+% of the dust back and give me several days of riding before the can filters need cleaning..and for 37 bucks...how can I pass that up. Might look a little different but WTH.

Upon reviewing other videos and info on these precleaners I think I should have started with the Donaldson Top Spin. It would have looked better and required no maintenance...and gets more out. But it is about twice as much. Check it out.

You do fine work with a lot of thought going in. I usually get an idea, roll it around in my head a while, then commence to hack it together as I go. LOL sounds a lot like me!!  I seem to keep getting away with though and with decent results. Even got most of my friends thinking I actually know what I'm doing lol.

Excellent research and vision, NMK. I am very interested in the follow-up.
One thing that occurs to me is that the Donaldson filters are without a doubt made to be used on agricultural engines of much greater displacement than our little Rotax-ettes and I wonder if the lesser volume and velocity of our smaller intake streams would impair their function? The S&B of course being motorized ought to be unaffected by air volume/velocity.
