It's been a long road of evolution on this through lots of trial and error. I am of the belief that this is the last intake modification I will be doing to this machine other then upgrading the internal air filters in the in-line can filters...someday.. hopefully later. Kinda put it all together in a video..think I will start doing that more often now as photobucket is changing their third-party hosting options. So..here it is..the epic conclusion of all these intake changes.

UPDATE: 8/11/17- First test drive:

Spend a few hours on our west mesa today. Most of it on the dustiest roads I could find just to see what collected and how the CVT temps did after reclocking back to B2. When I got home I pulled the filters out and although there was 1/4" dirt in the bed where the filters used to be, there was almost nothing in the new can filters. The CVT filter as always had the most but barely noticeable when blowing out with air. The CVT temps never over over 178 and B2 was better on hills backshifting then A2. So. I think all is well. The real test will be when following someone on dusty roads.

I was thinking about heading to the desert..which is about 40 minutes from here..either today or tomorrow for a little test run. Got to do it in the morning cause I hate the heat out there...lol. Thinking about taking the camera and setting it up on a fence post by a dusty road and pass-by a few times to see how much...if any..they stick above the cloud.

Looking good!  I can tell you that the CVT blower on mine dropped my temps quite a bit.  I keep thinking about reworking my system but I have bigger plans and I dont want to redo it just to take all apart and have to redo it again later.  Let us know how it works our for you!

What I would like for it to do is make it a week between filter cleanings while we are out on those week-long camp-outs...and if not, make it easy and quick to service. Man I gota tell ya it was so nice to take the cover off the CVT and have it as clean as it was when I put it back together last time...except for a hair of belt dust. Nothing built-up anywhere. I put new slides on the secondary and repolished the helix....and put it back to B2. That should slow it down a little and take some pressure off the belt and maybe..make a little less heat.

Well, yep. Got it less then a month ago. The old 95 V10 Dodge finally gave me some trouble on our last camping trip after 17 years of having it. This young (low miles) 2011 F350 came up close to us and at the right price and the wife liked it.. so...she came home with us. Always wanted a diesel and.. always wanted a flatbed.

So again you have created a monster. Your innovation in bettering our Z's has me following in your footsteps. They say that copying someone is the best form of flattery. I now have snorkels as well. I used a little smaller air scoop I think it fits the Z6. Let me know what you think.

Perfect. Looks real good. I was thinking about shortening mine a couple of inches but that means changing my upper mount. But seeing them a little shorter makes me think I should just do it.

NMK has certainly helped all of us to improve and enjoy our buggy's more and I think that your installation is a nice improvement aesthetically on what he has done, I like the smaller scoops mounted a slight bit lower they almost seem to disappear in the roofline, it also looks as if you pushed them all the way outward to the sides of the box, did you come up through the floor?

I just noticed your air foil(sp). That should help push the dust cloud down and away from the intakes on road runs.

I worry sometimes that some of what I do may not work as well with others...especially when I haven't had the time to test all aspects. I guess we'll be testing together...lol Keep an eye on the CVT filter as it will pull in a lot more then the engine side. My gut says this should be a good thing overall. I know having a second filter on the engine has proven it's value many times over and seeing how clean with no noticeable additional wear on the clutches with a filter also looks to be a solid benefit but..the speed that the CVT filter collects stuff where mine was in the bed made it restrictive way too fast which made the temp climb very quickly. Having that CVT temp gauge was a good thing as it told me when I needed to check the filter. Looks like up and out of the dust cloud will be a great thing though and will be able to ride without worry for an extended time...which is what the goal was anyway...lol.
