Yeah, that's basically what it does. The main concern with the OD is that it's not big enough to rub the belt. It doesn't have to be exactly the size of the collar, but remember it lets the belt ride lower in the front pulley. If the belt touches the shim, it'll wear one corner of the belt very badly at least. It may cause other problems that I'm not aware of too.

Ok, yeah I thought so. I also have a source for metric shims so I might be able to get some with the inside and outside diameters the same as the sleeve.

The shaft and sleeve should be measured in metric, I'm sure. But, I measured them with a digital caliper and they're just a few thousandths off from 1" ID and 1.5" OD. I didn't even think to switch to metric to see what they measured. The shaft may be 25mm, but is probably a hair over. The outside of the sleeve may be 37 or 38mm.

When I get the sleeve out I'll just measure its ID & OD with my metric calipers. Probably get a selection of thicknesses all under a millimeter.

That would probably be best. That way, you can find what works for you. I wanted the lowest gearing I could get for my tires and deep mud. I started out with a thicker shim. But, it became apparent that there is not enough splines for more than a mm, so that's where I settled. I still got a lower ratio than I expected, so it worked out.

Does it really feel noticeable?

I think it's quite noticeable. I estimate that I lowered my gearing by about 30%. My tires size increased by about 15%. So, I affectively lowered my gearing about 15%. I'm just estimating. These aren't exact measurements, but should be pretty close.

Good, cause I'm looking for just a little lower take off ratio in high range to get the wet clutch fully engaged sooner to cut down slippage in technical stuff where low range is just too low...and high is..well..just too high :)

Well, I won't be doing this shim mod. Apparently the Dr. Pulley sliders do allow the clutch to open farther, in fact so far that the belt is already so close to the sleeve, it may be touching it. If not, its really close. At least the belt wear on the sheaves is all the way down to the flat spot just before the sleeve. So, no shim mod needed for those that have sliders. I will show this in the video I did while doing the clutch work today.

I did measure for the shims though. The inside of the sleeve is 25mm and the outside is 35mm.

Update: It also looks like the camera was off while doing the work on the clutches so all I have is taking it apart and the secondary off and putting it back on. So, I may not do this video.

It sucks that you can't get any lower, but it sounds like you're about as low as you can go. I knew the sliders are supposed to increase top end. I didn't know they would lower your starting ratio.

Well, you know...it's OK. Yeah the belt sticks out the top of the secondary close to yours with the shim...a hair less. Hay was your sleeve all blue-looking?

Here's a pic of the secondary and belt extracted from the video:

It looks like it's riding pretty high. That should be good for 27s. I don't remember what color my sleeve was. I think it was black.

The sleeve is black nitrite coated. It can look a little bit blue in the light. I  did see a chrome plated one but not sure if it was worth it or not.

Mine was dark too..just reminded me of something running hot. Guess it's a normal color. On a side note, now that the secondary is back in the B2 position, it has better low end hit.

This may be a dumb question, but what effect will the B2 setting have on top end speed?

Not that much...I mean when I had it set on B2 before I took it to 66 before backing off and it still had a hair more left. Stock everything mine maxed out at 68-69. The big difference beside the massive improvement in low end and shiftback is it gets it to that 66+ in almost half the time..well it feels that way anyway...lol.
