I got 20 miles on the machine last week and when I got it back home and pulled it off the trailer I noticed what sounds like an exhaust leak starting... Guess I'll have to look at that now

Yup..know the feeling. Loosen the muffler and wiggle the pipe. It should just snap back in position. I only bought enough Moose springs to do the one at the back of the shield. The rest I just shortened the springs a 1/2 loop or so.

Good. Glad to help. Yeah I like the Moose springs but wow..they don't come cheap :)

At least you know the heat won't get to them.  Do check your engine mount bolts though...some have found them loose.

Ya, the springs must be platinum plated for what they cost me, lol. Engine mount bolts all good. Thanks.

I have a exhaust leak every time i ride my quad, I think I will shorten my springs first to see if that helps, currently to fix the issue i have been loosening the muffler mount off and giving it a good shove them tightening it back up to re-seat it.

Lol,  i also filed it with gas on the way home.  My gage now smells of gas and there is a nice big puddle of gas under the machine.  Looks like it's leaking from the top of the tank maybe around the pump.. this is ridiculous so sick of this machine

My 2016 z800 exhaust has been leaking for while now , ONLY WHEN COLD. Once it heats up , it expands enough that it doesn't leak. So I guess ill shorten the springs up a hair and make sure the donut gaskets are in place like they should be. It sounds so dumb when I first start it. Also seems make it run rough when cold . Once exhaust is hot enough to seal up , engine runs good.

I also had exhaust leaks. I installed longer bolts (4) holding the muffler and muffler hangers. This allows using lock nuts on the welded blind nuts to let the muffler pivot at both points to minimize over stretching the springs from the rigid mounting. Most motorcycle exhaust use rubber grommets after the springs to accomplish this. After over a year and 800 miles this had worked so far. I've had good luck so far with my Z 800 trail. Hope this helps someone.

I also had an exhaust leaking.  I took it into my dealer for some warranty issues, leaking water pump, injector light (replace speed sensor), and asked them to look at a few other issues I had.  They found the muffler to be out of line and the adjusted the header pipe.  Now, with everything aligned and in place our 2019, Z8 is so much more quiet.  From talking to the service manager this header/exhaust/muffler mis-alignment is a real problem and one they've had to fix a lot.  Good thing, they knew just what to do.
