Cf 500 A/2A reverse lights
« on: May 14, 2020, 02:35:26 PM »
Hi!

I have LEDs on my quad for a while and now i want back lights to turn on when i put it into reverse.
Sounds simpler thain it is...
Wireing diagram shows reverse sensor is grounded NC which i checked with multimeter.
First problem is that it is NC ground, meaning it is grounded all the time except when it is in reverse. But i found out that sometimes even if it is not in reverse it is not grounded....its a mess i dont know how thats working, but the reverse light on the cluster is working correctly all the time.
Second im using a relay to power the lights, but scince the reverse sensor is  NC the relay would be constantly powered, well at least 99% of the time wich i dont like much.
My question is how to wire it correctly and if someone allready did this on this model?
Im thinking of wireing extra sensor somewhere that would overcome the problems...

Thanks for help

Well, I can say on the other models that the gear selector switch only provides a ground to the dash indicator when that gear is selected so it should not be NC or constant ground unless selected. Otherwise the lights would all be on all the time except when selected. IMO something you are reading or testing is ..off...somehow. With that in mind, the usual ground triggered relay should work just fine. Here's the diagram:
