Alternative for Polaris & Ride Expansion Anchors
« on: August 23, 2016, 08:23:34 PM »
Jogon30 was intrigued with how I mounted my flag on the Z and asked I do a write-up. Basically the Polaris lock & Ride anchors are supposed to work in these.

The price of between 18 and about 24 bucks each made me look to something else. I tried a few other cheaper, smaller and different types but they didn't pan out. I finally settled on these HD 1-1/4" pipe plugs.

They are slightly large for the holes so they need to be reduced a little. Just the lower washer and the rubber, not the upper washer. That one keeps you level with the hole. There are a number of ways to do this but I just spun it in my drill press and laid my 4" grinder flat on the surface to take it down, then took the rubber off and took the lower washer down a little extra.

That's it. I have made a few of these to hold things like the flag and brackets for the extra flat pack and extra bed tie-downs when needed. Here's some shots of the flag bracket. I know...the bracket is over-kill. Its all I had laying around... lol.

I dont have to run a flag very often but I have adopted an air fitting so it would be quick release and attachment.  I don have any real good pictures of it but in the attached picture you can see it on the front of my Rhino.  I have done the same thing for the CF Moto.  I have beat it across the dunes and it didnt loosen up at all.  Its nice because when you get to where your going you dont need any tools to put it on and it can rotate if needed.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.
