New member here. I have a 2015 CF500 with 500 miles on it that I just got. It is very hard to shift into low, you basically need to rock the ATV. I removed the linkage and using the linkage connector on the side of the motor with the rear wheels jacked up, it is impossible to put into low unless you rotate the rear tires just a touch and it pops right in. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? Thoughts or suggestions.

Welcome. Just a couple of questions: Does it make a difference if the engine is running -V-not running? And is it only going to low range or is it any to any position from neutral?

Thanks for the response. It is only the shift into low. It is the same with it running or turned off.

Update - I talked to customer service at Cfmoto and they said that I should take it to the dealer to be checked.

I talked to the dealer and they said that this is normal and most quads are that way.

Tell your dealer that CFMoto told you it is not normal and to take it in. That or take it to another dealer.

Agreed.
You are nailing the brake pedal before shifting though, right?
Theyre pretty specific about the brake pedal.

My 2013 model will do the same if the idle speed is too high.

Alright. I only ask cause I watched the idiot uber mechanic child at work screw up the 800XC at work by force shifting it.
(kid knew less about mechanics than most despite claiming to have worked in a shop)

Despite his "favorite" brand having similar requirements he insisted that CFs were pieces of junk because they didnt shift like a manual so he kinda tried to break it. til we told him to stay off of it.

Being entirely NEW myself to this type of tranny in general it took em a bit to get it down fluidly. whish is the other reason I asked.
On mine I found a good sharp step on the foot pedal or quick pull on the front brake works well.

Critical here for me because my entire yard is a hill. I dont want to be stuck trying to rock my Bike while sliding down hill.

Thank you. I appreciate the information. I think that I will probably get use to it the more I ride it.
