Zforce 500 Exhaust springs
« on: May 28, 2017, 08:37:01 PM »
While riding this weekend I could hear the exhaust getting louder. Looked at the muffler springs and one was missing. This is the second time one has come off. Is there better springs I could get somewhere?

Yeah...Moose makes the best. Not cheap..but no more worries. Got them on mine and it ended my issues. Its important to get the correct size. I have a writeup in the How Toos on mine and in it there is some info on measuring and I believe a link on where I got mine.

Does anyone know the correct size moose springs to buy for the 500 trail exhaust springs?  The ones that attach to the muffler.  It looks like the 500 and 800 have a different set up.

f you will measure the distance between the two spring brackets, I believe Moose will tell you what size to get based on the percentage the spring is supposed to be stretched. As I recall when I did mine...and I also used Moose..they said something like the spring needed to be stretched 20%(double check that). So, take that distance and cut 20% off of it and that's the length spring to get.   Whatever it was, I have never had any more trouble with my springs after going with all Moose. Not cheap...but worth it. I also have a How To on exhaust springs in the How To section. It's here:

Thanks.  I did see that post, but unfortunately the SxS is up at the cabin right now, so I was hoping to buy the correct size and bring them up.

All 3 feel off my first week out, so I bought OEM replacements, and one of those fell off the second time out.   I'm surprised CFMOTO has not resolved this issue yet.

I found not only some over-stretched and under-stretched, but that the heat takes the temper out of the Chinese-steel in the springs. They are so soft that I did find that I could cut a loop or two off and re-bend a hook on the end. Can't do that with a Moose spring..lol.

Funny..200kms on mine, was greasing it, etc...hmm...that's why I could hear some exhaust farts on decel....All 3 of my springs are gone.  :p
Just searched 'exhaust springs', and here I am...hehe.
I messaged the dealer to order some in for when it goes in for the "The dealer's gotta do this one" first service...if they fall off again, I'll just shell out for some Moose springs, looks like.  Life goes on..

In case anyone else comes looking for the size. I had my brother measure the bottom spring and it's right around 60mm.  So I bought some 60mm moose springs.
