Z800 vs rzr 900
« on: March 30, 2017, 04:29:03 PM »
To the guys on here that have switched there secondary to the b2 position. I know the z800 will walk a rzr 800. But the 900 is a different animal, im aware of the power difference but im curious if just switching my z8 to the b2 ( keeping stock 25g sliders ) will go go neck and neck with the 900 till about 40-50mph? What do you guys think

Nope. Sorry, it won't...but it will be close enough to raise the eyebrows of the 900 driver...lol

Is changing to B2 worth the trouble of pulling the clutches apart?

I had every intention of testing this out for myself in March, having put about $400 into parts on my Wildcat over the holidays. I bought an EZ Ryde exhaust and a Speedwerx secondary clutch spring and wanted to line up against my BiL's Rzr900. The Wildcat's 700 twin is always overlooked when it comes to a performance discussion, simply because most guys follow the standard 'Its got more CCs, therefore its faster' frame of mind. Any guy with a V8 knows the car saying 'There's no replacement for displacement'.

But the Wildcat's trick is its lighter weight, giving it about a 150lb advantage over the Rzr, and as far as power to weight, I think the numbers come out to around 6.2:1 (64hp, 990lbs), compared to the Rzr900 at 6.3:1 (75hp,1200lbs). So with the bump I got from the exhaust and the clutch spring helping the clutch get a better bite on the CVT, I was anxious to see how it ran. But I never did get in a run against him - we had a lot of rain on that day and never did get in a run. By the end of the summer, I plan on finding out just how much the 700 has in it.

well I can tell you , I lined up with a 900, and we were dead even when we quit.
now that was with stock tires, I think the 29's slowed it down some..

I can tell you it's night and day. Like going from 3:23 gears to 3:90s and still keeping the top end. Won't believe it's the same machine.
