Hello Folks-
I'm going to be needing some windshields for these (2) 800's we're buying, and I wanted to ask the forum; what are you guys using? I bought a cheaper 3/16 foldable one for the 600 I'm selling right now (I think it's sold, actually) and it's kind of flimsy, so is the 1/4 inch one a lot better, or does it need to be thicker?
 Also, what's better, vents on the bottom you can open, or the foldable kind that flips out?

SuperATV has both types for the 800s. I have the CFMoto 1/2 windshield but for me..it sucks..so I mostly don't use one but recently I was out in the cold and it sure would have been nice to have a full shield and sense Jason has already bought one of theirs for his RzR and loves it..I think I'll get one too. Just haven't decided on which one yet. I like the idea of opening the upper part for air.. but that brake between the two is one of my issues with the 1/2 shield...it's right at my eye level and it drives me nuts to have to look over or under that. I really think I'll be getting their one piece full shield. That way its on..or off...as needed.

I use the 1/2 but made the top 1/2. Seems to have worked out great for us.

GF Moto, that one you have on yours looks AWESOME. Did you build it yourself or where'd you get it?

Here, it's colder in the mornings, then gets cooler as you ride higher in the mountains, then warms up again....you're in & out of cold/cooler air all day long, and with the Wife with me & my Daughter driving another one...gotta keep them happy.

Thanks! The bottom half came with it. I made the top half from a piece of safety plexi glass.

Had enough material left to make the back glass as well.

I'm thinking about making them myself, but I'm not sure if I want the folding ones, or the ones with vents, or just a solid one piece. I'd think when it's hot outside the vented ones would be best, right, or does it really matter?

Yeah, the bottom one is stock. (Came with it ) I like the idea I can still take the top one off and still have protection.
Found out if you use a heat gun (like $8 at harbor freight) you CAN make the bend yourself though.

I have driven machines with a full windshield that will not tilt out (no vents) to allow air flow through, it's like being in a green-house in the summer.

I put the tilt windshield on my Z800 from CFMOTO for that reason. I only bought the machine recently so will see how well the tilt out windshield works this summer.

I got a price on that from a plastic company for just over $500 for a 4x8 sheet, I have to cut it & get the parts to mount it, but being that I need (2) of them, I think I'll still end up saving some mula....need doors & a better exhaust....& a tuner from Dobeck....& ARS....

Anybody know where to get the clamps & levers/arms to hold it up if I make it a two piece?

Nope, I meant half. Help me out; I bought this 3/16 inch windshield for the 600; it bows when you go fast; I figured a half inch would be hard & last forever, too....(but I do use 2x6's when a 2x4 would probably work fine too...)

1/2 is way overkill. Plus adding all that weight. 1/4 would be fine and 5/16 is a hair overboard. Put bends in it and it will be plenty stiff and not flop in the wind.

SuperATV uses 1/4"...and the factory shields are also 1/4".

I don't think I ever heard for sure but can you ride with it in it's fully-open position?
