Whinning sound while accelerating and decelerating
« on: May 16, 2020, 02:39:16 PM »
I have a 2019 CF Moto 800 EX. Great machine so far. But for some reason it's extremely loud whinning when driving and letting off the throttle. I took into the dealership and they said that is normal. The problem is seems to be getting louder and very annoying. I only have 260 miles on so far and hard to enjoy the ride with this kind of noise. Actually gave me a headache riding the other day. I was just wondering if anyone else has this issues?

They are pretty noisy but if the whine is getting louder...that's not normal. You need to pull the diff's drain plugs and see how much metal is building up on the magnetic inserts and how the oils is looking. If you have or can get a hold of a decent camera that can record decent audio, take it along with you on a run, upload it to YT and post a link here so we can hear it.

I don't know if your whinning noise is the same that I had, but mine was coming from a misaligned exhaust.  After realignment some, not all, high pitch noise went away.  Changing all of the lubricants help some also.  My Z8 is so, so much quieter now and I don't have to use earplugs any more.  With that said, ear plugs do help keep dust from getting deep into my ears.

I will check that out. It really gets loud at higher speeds and even when you let off the throttle it can be unreal. The engine performs very well. I will be riding next Thursday and I will record it. Thanks

The exhaust looks fine as far as I can tell. Just wondering what lubricants did you use? The dealership was very admin about that's how they sounded. Not sure that is right though. Thanks

Sense we are on the subject of drive train...or at least possible drive train noise, I'll toss in that mine is having a little issue with the rear gear case (diff) where its very loose...always has been..but it grinding aluminum up and making the oil look like metal flake card paint. And it was making what I call pinion/ring gear alignment problem noise on both acceleration and mostly deceleration. I was changing it every 150-200 miles or so so I went back to conventional gear lube and with 90w140 which is a bit heavier then they wanted. But...its much much quieter now and it isn't grinding itself up nearly as fast.

I agree with you. I spoke to another person who said a bearing finally blew at 400 miles. Dealer said the same thing to him. He was pissed. Fighting with the dealership right now. Thanks for the input

I also purchased a Brand new 2019 Z Force 1000 and from day one it has sounded like a Harmonic Cement Mixer.
speeding up or slowing down does not matter, constant speed also it comes and goes. It is very loud and annoying.

I spoke with area Rep about it and waiting on reply, could be a bolt head issue with clutch.

Lets hope a simple fix, noise truly sucks as is.

I put almost 400 miles on this weekend. I noticed the whining really bad between 30 mph and 40 mph. I will be contacting the dealership about this. By the way, 2 RZR 900 and 1 1000 RZR got stuck in a mud hole. They told me not to even try. Guess who made it through! They were not to pleased. I was basking in the moment. Gotta love it!!

Mine is in the shop getting the rear diff replaced and it was making a racket when I let off the gas. Next, the rear wheels will lock up.  Started after jumping the machine at high speed with my foot on the gas.  Good luck.

AN update. I have 1200 miles on so far and the whine is getting worse and now I here a rapping sound when decelerating. Talked to the dealership and they said that is normal and to deal with it. Contacted CF Moto headquarters and discovered that their so no customer relations for the consumer and that all situations needed to be handled by a dealer. That was a big disappointment in a company that you would think would have a better customer relations with being new and growing company. Anyway I had a great conversation with a different dealer, which they were very knowledgeable of the drive shaft and had a few ideas on what might be happening. it was a 45 min conversation and I am scheduled to be in Aug 5th to get checked out. Finally have some optimism. Hope we can figure this out!

Good. Keep us posted. I'm about 1600 and about to start wearing ear protection..although I think it's too late for my ears.

Hi, I'm wondering if you've ever solved your issue? I'm experiencing the same problem with my brand new ZForce 800 and it's super annoying. I wouldn't of bought it knowing it had this sound problem.
