I just picked up a 800ex with 144 miles on it which has never been ridden hard or left the guy's property.  So I'm basically the first to really tear into it.  I took it on some light trails and stayed safe, but after the first ride we couldn't get it started back up.  After checking for any loose wires and pulled a plug, checked spark, and a few other things we got lucky and wiggled the fuel pump harness and VIOLA!   Started right up.  I wonder if I should check anything else before getting left stranded?

The main issue we come across was the lower right control arm nut came off causing the bolt to vibrate almost all the way out.  We noticed a noise and stopped right away to find that happen.  Luckily we were able to winch it up and dangle the front end from a tree to get the bolt back in.  Then I wrapped my bungee strap around it and took it easy back to camp.  I'm not too happy about that, but I do know bolts come loose.  I also know that this would have happened regardless of me being the second owner or it being used, I checked over everything very carefully.

Lastly, even with it being a cool morning I noticed that it gets pretty hot in the cabin.  Is that from the radiator being in front of us an having poor ventilation?  The temp never went up so I'm not really worried about it overheating, just would like to make things a little cooler.

Welcome. Most..well..many of us have found a-arm bolts loose but once torqued they seem to stay. We advise that you go over every bolt, nut and screw in it...even and especially engine and differential mounts. Any and all wiring connectors you can get too as well.

As for the cab heat, it comes from the engine and gets in through that air intake between the seats. If you snorkel it or do some kind of cold air intake mod like mine, you can seal that thing off and end that heat, a bunch of noise and fumes from getting in the cab.

Enjoy. They are really pretty good machines. Be sure to keep good, proper, and clean oil in it and get rid of the stock air filter NOW if it had one. They do let dust through. We all use either a twinAir or a unifilter....Or like me I rum both...lol
