wet clutch or dry clutch
« on: January 15, 2021, 02:04:08 PM »
Would anyone know if my X&Y 600 powersports UTV is a wet or dry clutch.  4 years old.

Called a CF MOTO dealership and the Lady on the phone said that only 800cc cf motos have wet clutches as far as she knows.

Need to know the clutch type for oil usage. Have been using 10W30 car oil.

 THANKS!

You can run any oil with a JASO-MA rating for a wet clutch regardless of it has one or not. But it looks like this one does so...better have a look-see on your oil specs.

This implies it is a wet clutch:

Not trying to be snarkey......just thinking....maybe this is a replacement conversion my engine. I know it doesn't say that...but I'm remembering what the CF Moto dealership told me. I didn't want to use an oil that wasn't designed for my engine.

Anyway I have Valvoline ATV 4-stroke oil with the JASO MA rating and will use it.

So I can say thanks guys for your help.....

It's the same clutch assembly (054000) found in 2014 and older CFMoto Rancher 500 and 600.

The problem is the lack of definitive info on the XY, or a list of supported machines in the ebay listing.

What year is the XY? What year is the new engine?

The oil you've chosen will be fine either way.

Hey, thanks for you guys help....buggy was made in 10-2014. I bought it new at the end of 2015. It has 260 miles and looks like new, snow blade, electric rise bed, glass windshield with electric wiper with Amish built enclosed cab.

265 pages.....https://www.manualslib.com/products/Xy-Powersports-Xy500utv-4086899.html

I took engine out of the buggy so I could work on it.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1065015/Xy-Powersports-Xy500utv.html?page=91#manual

page 91 shows shifting gears 4&5 got rusty and froze up. How that happened I don't understand. The teeth on those gears were fricken chewed up. Number 4 steel gear rotates in bare aluminum engine case with no bushing....coated with cheap chinnese axle grease that got so hard that the grease had to be chiseled out!!! I got new parts and put them. Engine is back in, but not have run it yet. It shifts fine with lever on side of engine.

NMKawierider......

maybe engine gear repair could be moved somewhere else to alert anyone having hard shifting problems with their CF Moto.
